i want to buy a new Graphics card either a radeon 9600XT or a geforce fx5600 or 5700 which one is better and which one should i get.

also i don't want any 9800 or 5900 i only want one of these.

dude believe me ive tried lots of cards .
and i know what im talking about

save your money and get the ati radeon 9800 i know its expencive but i got 1.5 computer and its soo good and plays so damn fast with the 9800 ive nevver seen any kind of card do this to a simple 1.5 computer.
i can play with evry option full and still get like 30 fps.

i know its expensive but still if you get a better one now it wil stay better longer 2
else i recommand the ati 9600 its pretty good to if you have a faster comp than me.

From what I have read in reviews etc. the 9600XT is the better buy. Unless you buy the FX 5700 Ultra.

Is there any difference between the radeon 9600 and the 9600xt? cause the 9600 is a bit cheaper. And also what about the 9600 pro or 9600se, are these any different from the 9600xt?

The difference is that the XT model is the newest and best of the 9600 models. Although it is a bit more expensive it is worth the more money.

ok, i checked on the geforce fx5900xt and radeon 5600xt and although they are around the same price the radeon 9600xt has 256mb memory whereas the 5900xt has 128mb memory, and although they do supply a 5900xt that has a 256mb memory its double the price and i can't afford it. i don't know that much about graphics cards, so do i go by the chipset or the memory? i am limited to these 2 cards and can't afford any more so which one is better?

I would still say go for the Geforce, as there are no games (to my knowledge) that today uses more than 128 mb ram.

I have, for instance, a GF4 TI4200 with 128 mb ram, and I run SC at 1024X768 with all video settings at max, and the game runs smoothly, but I also have an OK computer: P4 NWB 2,4Ghz, 512 MB PC 2700 ram.
