Hi all! Ok, it's time I take a little brake while im rendering some nice images , and introduce myself.

    My name is Martin Sabran
I am one of the Lead Artist for Myst Revelation .

I've been on this project since the begining of the 3D production, and what a ride... and still much fun things yet to do.

I wanted to start on the Forum by asking a question :

"Why do you love the Myst game so much?"

    Welcome Martin! *waves*

I love Myst because it was the first time I ever felt the computer was the gateway to another world... and once there, I could stay as long as I liked, and I could go visit any time with my children, my husband, and then I could compare my adventures with my friends.

I love Myst because it makes me feel at peace. There's no rush, no deadline, no violence, no swearing... I can just relax and explore.

I love Myst because the sights, sounds and smells surround me and I forget, for a while, that I am still in our own Age...

    Great question!

    Hi Martin.

I've always like the idea of free exploration at the players own pace. The ability to just look around and enjoy where you are.

I like EVERYTHING!!! (except those stare-at-a-clue-until-the-solution-knocks-you-over-the-head puzzle like the kadish gallery)

There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.

I love them because while they present such fantastic worlds and how you get to them I always have this weird feeling that I'm connected or have visited those worlds or have some connection with the story of places. It's hard to explain sort of like a cross between my dream world and Deja' vu.

Because the graphics are so detailed, giving me the impression I am really there. Also, because the music and sounds are so beautiful. And finally, beacuse I don't have to rush and worry about dying.

For me it's just pure excersion. Nothing except for real life and history has so much depth. It's total escapism.

Having read the books, played each of the games (including the three versions of MYST) over and over I am still completely entranced by it all.

Even though I just finished reading "The book of D'ni" in paper back, I had to go and order it on Amazon in hardback, just to complete the collection. OK - I admit it - I am now officially a MYST nut!

I find that the honesty of pure storytelling between the struggle between good & evil fascinates me. And doing it in a most realistic atmospheric, musically enchanted version is the ultimate in storytelling.

I love Myst games because they are truly immersive. "Turning off the lights and turning up the sound (or using a good pair of headphones!)" actually works with Myst.
Then theres the ingenuity of the puzzles, and the fact that they are interwoven with the story. These two things are quite separate, and because of this, there are 2 great "types" of moments in Myst:
    1. When you finally solve a puzzle on your own, an excellent feeling, especially if they reward you with something cool like in Exile.
    2. When entering a new place for the first time (not necessarily a new age, just a new place) and wondering at its magnificence.

Which brings me to my last point: The fact that every age in all of Myst is totally unique - since they don't have a user interface, they actually feel like different games; different worlds. That is truly amazing.

So, Dr. Sputnik - you've played all 3 mysts (like me) - tell me, was Masterpiece a letdown? It seemed to add more bugs than it fixed. Like the note at the end was changed to "off" when it should say on (did you notice this!?) and sometimes the beep in the fish maze pointed you in the wrong direction. This game was quite annoying - tell me what you thought.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: People who know binary and people who don't.
