Thread: Why do we love the brothers? | Forums

  1. #1
Okay, I would have been incredibly excited regardless of the plot for Revelation. However, when I realized that Sirrus and Achenar would be returning, I jumped for joy in my dorm saying "holy ****" for 10 minutes (thank goodness my roommate wasn't around)! I have a feeling--but please correct me if I'm wrong!--that others had a somewhat similar reaction to the news.

The question is why--WHY do I love these two vicious monsters so much? If others could tell me their reasons why they can't wait to see the two brothers cause more mayhem, I could discover my own answer to the question...

I don't love the brothers. In fact, I profoundly dislike them. As "people," I mean. They're good characters. I just wouldn't leap up and down and say "Ooo goody, it's Sirrus and Achenar, I missed them!" or anything like that. They're baaaaaad, and I think they got what was coming to them. After all they did, the people they hurt, I just can't work up any warm, fuzzy feelings for them.

I had a very similar reaction to yours when I saw the trailer, though. Why? Well, for me, partly because the trailer was so creepy and atmospheric, so I kept thinking, "Oh, this is cool!" as it was playing.

Speaking solely in terms of the brothers, though, I'm excited about this plotline because I've always thought there were some unanswered questions about what happened to them and about their relationship to Atrus, and I'm think the new game will address that. I'm also very interested to see how Ubi pulls this off without contradictions.

So yes, I'm excited to see how this all turns out with the plotline, even though I don't really like the brothers. I know some do like them, though, and I'm interested in hearing what they have to say.

Alright, I didn't really elucidate very well. Of course I don't like them as people; they scare the living daylights out of me. That's probably why I'm excited about their return--I love video games, but no game villain has ever given me the heebie-jeebies like the brothers. I like a good scare now and then...

I don't "like" the brothers as "Oh goodie, I wanna be just like them". I like them as villians. They were the ones who put so much mystery into Myst.

I'm with Anna on this ... I feel there where many unanswered questions surrounding the "removal" of the brothers ... and know that there have been many discussions ... and a few debates ... as to whether they were really killed or just sealed away in their respective books.

I hope that these answers will finally be answered and put to rest.

I'm not so sure what you are saying here (that first word doesn't make any sense) but -_- I'm sorry, I forgot not to swear. I apologize if you are yelling at me. Max is a baka

Sorry for my confusion. A lot of people actually do seem to like them, to the point I actually thought I was in a minority saying I didn't. Sorry I misinterpretted your meaning, though

Maxine, I was trying to be subtle. "Ixnay" is pig latin for Nix, or No, or Not, or just plain old "get rid of" or "let's not bring up".
