    Currently i have:
    AMD Athlon 2400 (2.0)GHZ
    1Gig RAM
    80Gig HD
Nvidia GeForce 4MX 64Mb Vid card.

I'm looking at Nvidia GeForceFX5200 256MB card. Will this card work in my system? Will I need more cooling units installed etc? Thanks for all the help!!

Why wouldn't it work ? Check your mobo's
name and go to a special hardware store or summit...
    I wouldn't recommend a GF FX5200 though..

It all depends on ur budget

GF TI 4200 pwns the GF FX5200..

Go there and take a look at the tests..
(search -> nr of vid card. Example: 9800 -> Refers to ATI Radeon 9800.. )
And you dont need Xtra cooling or something.. as long as you don't overclock it

Oh Btw.. as said before the game will prolly run better on a Nvidia card.. But don't worry, if you prefer a ATI card it will also run.. maybe a bit worse.. but it will :P
I got a Radeon 9600XT over here.. and runs just fine..

If you picked up a 5200 you will be pissed. You will figure out that you just wasted your hard earned money. Spend $200 and get a 9800 Pro and be done with the video card upgrade for a while. It will be cheaper than you buying a 5200 then 2 weeks later getting something else.

Go for the Geforce FX 5600 256mb - DX9 card without the outrageous prices of the higher models and hell of a lot better performance than the 5200 - I love mine -> + like the guy above said, nvidia is the way to go in the near future.

at the current time, ~$200 for the 9800pro is a steal.

i'd save up some money, or wait a few months.

between the imminent release of something new from Nvidia/ATI, and between the releases of halflife/doom (well, around summer/fall), prices should drop quite a bit.

but getting a 9800pro right now will leave you well off for a couple of years
