Thread: meshuggah ocean with real waves | Forums

    those of you who followed pixel shaders know it should be possible to add vertex deformation/animation to the water in far cry for real waves... right now it just affects the texture...

    this is an old dx 8 shader that even did it:

    I've poked a bit and the interface seems entirely open to using your own shader scripts so all we need is some source code we can get working here... anyone want to help with this? I'm just going to dabble at it, but I bet some of you could make bigger strides - a good starting place is nvidia's and ati's pages about shaders and shading language... which is most of their development section these days
