That entire screenshot looks 100% better than the actual game.

If you set the resolution really high 1600x1200 or something your game will look exactly like that.

seems normal to me

Actually, the textures in RvS are severly washed out with a grey tint over everything (and no, it's not just my monitor, hardware, drivers, gamma, brightness or resolution).
The Unreal Engine has a more "washed out" look to it than other games like the Quake III engine; even UT2003 does as it may have more detailed actors in game, but the overall appearance of the game is very subduded if comparing to something like Half-Life (I and II) which is more rough and "in your face" type of rendering with more vibrant colors.
I'm not saying the Unreal Engine is a bad thing by any means, but the major differences are that the UE's primary strengths are more detailed enviroments and player models than most games (more polygons), but not as many players say like in Quake III and HL which emphasize the sheer amount of action (players, explosions, etc.) going on at one time versus detail.

I do use digital viberance with my vid card, so maybe that takes away the 'washout'. Originally started to do that for OFP b/c it made such a difference in the game.

Hell, man! The alpha version was the shipping version! We all know that! LOL!
Besides, mine looks that good and always has. A good quality video card and monitor are key to getting sharp, clear images.
