We removed it from our servers. There are enough checks and balances to keep pirates out and sice we run Tango Hunt games, PB is useless. So come on over if you want to run your No-CD patch until you have enough $ to buy a bigger HD to waste space for an ISO.

on the contrary, WE (our server admins) all have legit copies and don't suggets any pirate activites. I do believe however that it's the LEGAL users right to use or not to use their CD in the tray.

Not if you read the EULA it's not. Furthermore, these forums strictly prohibit ANY discussion of methods to bypass the cd-check. Offenders are immediately banished from the forums.

Ok, if you're correct, I stand "corrected". Disregard what I said about the no-cd and just know that the new PB interferes with our banner script.

    PHILIPZ,

I couldn't read the EULA before I bought the game. Then it was too late, no refund possible. They also refuse refunds because they think it's a way to stop piracy, in stores, here.
And show me the note about the CD protection on the box in the stores please, by the way.

I BUY the games I play, but CD protections are a nuisance, not something usefull:

    - it does not stop piracy (single player, cracked servers,..)
    - it DOES PREVENT some CD readers to sucessfully read the CD
Remember the bad experiences of many users at teh beginning?
    - it is USELESS, since the game is anyway fully installed on your HD, because it runs faster that way.
    - those protections are ILLEGAL in several countries, because they prevent you to make legitimate backups of your precious and expensive CDs.

CD keys checked on an online server is the most efficient, less annoying way to prevent piracy.

You can hardly argue about those facts.

Don't worry, now that I know the EULA, I won't buy other R6 gaames, except if they change their mind.

So, I'm sorry if I get angry at the crappy protections being developed and used, and I'm sure you can at least understand my opinion, even if you disagree with it.

    Regards.

If copying of copyrighted software was NOT so rampant then you wouldn't see companies going to such lengths to stop piracy. This is the case though, and honest gamers who buy the game pay the price. Most games out now and most likely all future games will require the CD to be in the drive.

You make a good point though in that any company that releases a game should at least state on the box that it uses a cd-check system or whatever. Of course you won't be buying many new games if that restricts your buying decision.

More so than NOT having to put the CD in the drive everytime.
