Neither really "came" first. You see, all an egg is, is genetic material and other nutrients needed to make life. So, how could a chicken just appear? It had to come from something. Not necessarily an egg, but another descendent of some sort. The first "chicken" probably did not spawn from what we would consider an egg, but perhaps it was a mutation of another organism. Pope probably could write a book on this post, but since he's been there done that, I doubt he'll do it again.

Realistically, neither came first, because distinct species cannot appear in one generation's time. But, if you want to assume that they can, then the egg came first. You have a near-chicken that lays an egg that happens to have whatever mutation it needs to make it a real-chicken. Thus, the egg came first.

And now for the real question: do you think that everything tastes like chicken because the machines couldn't figure out exactly how it tastes?

Everything tastes like chicken because nobody is clever enough to describe them otherwise.
