Hi, I'm new here,
here's my problem:
After running ANY type of 3D application on my computer then playing the splinter cell demo #1 and #2, whenever i press the directional keys, it crashes to the desktop with a general protection fault error, something about the display and the keys and the controls and the input. My system specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 1.7ghz
512MB PC800 RDRAM
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB DDR-set at default stock speeds using catalyst 3.8 drivers and control panel
Creative Lab's Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer-5/31/03 core driver package and latest drivers
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition-SP1
Two 40GB 2MB cache 7200 RPM IBM hard drives
Intel 850 dell custom mobo
Creative Lab's Inspire 2400 speakers w/subwoofer
Dell Trinitron Black 17" monitor
16X LITE-ON DVD-ROM
48X LITE-ON CD-RW
Direct-X 9.0b
IBM Optical mouse with glowing wheel and extra fourth side button
Dell quitekey standard black keyboard
3"5 floppy drive
Network 10/100mbps card
150KB Yahoo! SBC DSL
And more
This error occurs when i configure splinter cell at ANY settings. I usually run splinter cell with 3D audio and EAX with high quality simulated sound at 1024x768 with very high effects detail and high shadows details, and i usually gain around 20-30fps and below and around there. It runs ok, a bit slower than on xbox. So, any ideas on what the problem is?

Thank you much for the system specs.
It looks like you have the latest video card drivers, so, is your NumLock off? This is a common problem...

Your welcome. Yes, I have experimented with num lock, caps lock, and scroll lock keys, on and off, and they make no such difference. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, post the exact wording of the GPF.

The Problem seems to have diminished for now, recently when I've played the splinter cell demo #1 & #2 on my computer, i can press directonal keys without the demo crashing successfully, even after running a 3D app/game or not doing that. I'll report back the exact general protection fault message, if it ever occurs again, for me.

Aight... Ubi's first demo seems to be a little different than their second, Ex. the lockpick interface...
