I have just past the area where you are told that the guys are heavly armored. I go through a door and kill 3 guys in a medical area and there are 3 more guys in a room at the one end of the area. I have crossed the room from the door I came in from and past through the door and past through another door on my right. At the end there are guys trying to kill the monster and two come around the corner I kill them I then get use of the heavy machine gun but I can't seem to kill off all the monsters. What in the world can I do to get past them all?

Turn on your thermal goggles and fire till you dont hear anything. Then run past the flaming barrel and fight 3 more mercs. Go into the room the mercs came from and lure the last few trigens that will attack thru the opposite door back into the hallway, so that you can finish them with the heavy gun too. Use your night goggles, they make things much easier in darkened hallways.
*the faster you can take out the first two mercs and control the heavy gun, the more time/room you get before the monkey trigens can attack

i got stuck at this part for a while

the problem was i had no grenades and there were too many trigens

i replayed the poart from the checkpoint before conserving grenades... then when i came to the corridor i left the mercs to fight the trigens... then when the mercs died i chucked in about three nades when the trigens approached and blew up the explosive stuff and voila...

i think the best way to kill the phatboy (rocket launcher guy) is to blow up explosive items beside him
