I have version 1.3.5 with IT. I dwnloaded the 1.4 patch & installed it. When the game starts up, it says I'm still running 1.3.5. I unzipped the file to my GR directory, ran the 1.4 extractor, then the 1.4exe file. Any ideas on where I might have missed a step? Thanx in advance.

the 1.4 patch automatically finds the Ghost Recon folder so that sounds strange.
You could give it a try as follows: Unzip the patch not to the GR folder but a temp or download folder (I've got one folder named "Mods" with all the downloads and unzips of same). Then run the patch.exe file from that folder.
Good luck

I thought that was strange also. I'll try your suggestion. Thx.

Well I ran the 1.4 patch from from a separate folder & it says the update was done. I started up GR & the menu screen says 1.3.5 with the date of 9/28/2003. still.

To Hawk82,
When you downloaded the patch did you use a DL accelerator if you did by-pass it and when installing it turn of your antivirus software. Below is a link to the patch as your source maybe corrupted.
Patch v1.3, v1.4 http://www.ghostrecon.com/patch.php?param=pcgr
Also I have included a uninstall guide and if you follow that and start again so your files and folders are not corrupt. I have also given you a guide that will save all the necessary files and folders that you can back-up and copy/paste back to there right location after you have done the reinstall.
<font color="#00FF00">Save GR Games</font>
start/all programs/ accessories/window explorer/c:drive/programes file/red storm entertainment/ghost recon
1- Save folder inside data is used for saving your
keys for the game that you have set up.
2- Go into your mods folder, and take out the save
folder from MP1, MP2, and Origmiss.
3- Once you reinstall, just put these back in their
respective folders(overwriting the new ones) and
you'll be set.
Also copy all the files with the .xml extension and the missionstats.htm on the ghost recon folder.
If after restoring the saved folders/files, ghost recon don't work as expected (this can happen if you change the hardware after the backup), delete the options.xml in the ghost recon folder. Then start the game, go to the options and re-configure as needed
GR saved games after reinstall
If you backed up to CD after restore you have to access the properties of the files you had backed up and uncheck the read only option.
<font color="#00FF00">GR Uninstall</font>
First of go to your add/remove program and uninstall GR/UBI and then follow below and delete the GR/UBI folders
1-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment
2-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/UBI.com
To start from scratch uninstall all of GR and UBI and at your own risk do this but first back it up.
(1) start/run and type this: regedit and press ok
Up the top click file/export and on the pop up window down the bottom where it says (save as type) click the drop down arrow and click on ALL FILES. Then select your location and save.
repeat step (1)
1- hkey_current_user/software look for any red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft folders
now do this:
2- hkey_local_machine/software look for red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft and UBI soft entertainment folders and delete
now do this:
3- hkey_LocalMachine/ software/ Microsoft/ windows/ current version/ uninstall directory there should be a folder here named "{D89EF3B3-6F17-4665-B7A9-A4235A6DC787}" with some Ghost Recon info in it so delete only the ghost recon related info.

snipe21,
I followed your suggestions & finally got GR to update to version 1.4.0. Thanks for your help! Now I'm going to practise getting killed again.
