If at all possible would you guys be able to allow the entire campaign to be played in co-op node sort of like halo, as you all most probably know halo campaign in co-op rocks big time.
But back to SH3, if for example you and your friend could be part the same wolfpack and go through the campaign like that it wouuld be great, it would add another dimension to the game.
keep up the good work cos so far the game looks awesome!

That will be hard with several weeks of patrol...

    My suggestion:

You play a dinamic campaign. You're in the seas, encountering a convoy. Then you report your contact, waiting for close U-Boats to come in for a wolfpack attack. As soon as they have contact to the convoy or to your boat, you should save the game. Then you stop playing offine, and load that savegame into MP game as a host, while you just control the same boat as before in the campaign. The dynamic campaign will be rendered furthermore as you play online (that's possible because you're the host), and the clients take control of the other subs that came to attack the convoy with you. The player count then depends on the wolfpack size. After your attack, you save the game again and go on offline.
This combines a offline dynamic campaign, which is lot of fun, with a nice multiplayer attack. The multiplayer part is just that actual players control the wolfpack subs instead of the AI. That would rock IMHO! And I think it's not impossible to make technically.

i think this is an awesome idea, but the 8week patrol length could make this a little tricky.

you guys are talking about a setup like EverQuest (evercrack) i think.
