Well heres my story. I installed the 1.2 patch, then had troubles, then un-installed Far Cry, re-installed and re-patched to 1.1, then was'nt happy with the games performance anyways. I'll tell you why...
I recently purchased a PNY GeForce 6800 GT which when combined with a P4 2.8 gh CP, 1 gig of PC 2700 ram, and a new Viewsonic VX2000 20" LCD monitor, I just thought I'd deserverd more. So I started reading the forums, downloaded DirectX 9.c, downloaded the fxc.exe and put it in the bin file, and finally, re-patched to 1.2. I also added the command :
-r_sm30path 1
to the command line in the Far Cry executable properties. I believe I have done everything right, and btw I have achieved a considerable framerate boost of late thx in general to the 1.2 patch which I am now keeping. But the big lingering question is... have I done everything right?. To tell you the truth I have no idea what the difference should look like with sm 3.0 enabled. I have taken some screen shots of Multiplayer -in game, and I read that sm 3.0 should work there as well. I will post them now and I ask this....
Do these shots look like sm 3.0 has been enabled?
I can only find certain textures(mostly ground related types, sand... rocky earth, and a few others)which seem to have depth enough to be considered IMO a result of sm 3.0 being enabled .
Here they are.

In closing, I would like to state the obvious: I'm a noob at this stuff. If these pics are'nt reflective of sm 3.0 than could someone please help me to do it right? I would be greatly appreciative of any help at all.
BTW these shots are taken in-game, as I stated, at a resolution of 1280 x 1024 x 32 with all settings ti very high except water at Ultra high, and paradise mode. AA and AF are at their highest levels also.
