Ubi.com software problems or is it my router ? | Forums

A few days ago i bought Ghost Recon 2nd hands ... hell ya, i like every game [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img] thats why i have a joystick, gamepad, steeringwheel and my nearly high-end computer and over hundreds of games [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img]

because in-game browser is 'buggy' or doesnt work at all with the refresh key (i think it cant find a host list) so i decided to go play on ubi.com [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img] (yeeeeey)

now look at this .... such a nice site

now i see there're 299 players [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img] I thought let's make it to 300 players [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif[/img] so i clicked on it and i saw this :

well then i searched around in this forum , looking for help ... and i saw this post : http://forums.ubi.com/messages/messa...on_ts&id=zxhni

my eyes were stick to one line : Problem With UBI Game Service ?

i clicked on it ... donwloaded the newer version (after de-installing the ubi.com software from GR CD-Rom)

now let's launch that Ubi.com software [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img]

after the Ubi.Com splash screen i got this :

now i moved my cursor over it and i could click on something in that pitch black window [img]/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif[/img] and this is what i've found :

... what does that mean ? does it have something to do with my router ? i have DMZ enabled ... should'nt be a problem ... though ?

and with the Ubi.Com software on the GR CD-Rom i was able to see the login screen, but i got an error 'could not find server' or something after i clicked login ....

To duky_boy,

Follow the below uninstall but only uninstall the UBI.com files. Then go to the bottom of the page and follow the
UBI Game Service.exe. About the in game browser you have to add the IP addresses manually for them to work so it isn't buggy so when you come across servers your happy with add them to the list.

EDIT: One other point you may wish to close all background programs when DLing and installing the UBI game service.exe. Also for the first time to launch UBI.com click start/all programs/ubi.com/play online.

GR Uninstall

First of go to your add/remove program and uninstall GR/UBI and then follow below and delete the GR/UBI folders

1-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/red storm entertainment

2-start/all programs/accessories/windows explorer/my computer/local disk(c)/program files/UBI.com

To start from scratch uninstall all of GR and UBI and at your own risk do this but first back it up.

(1) start/run and type this: regedit and press ok

Up the top click file/export and on the pop up window down the bottom where it says (save as type) click the drop down arrow and click on ALL FILES. Then select your location and save.

repeat step (1)

1- hkey_current_user/software look for any red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft folders

now do this:

2- hkey_local_machine/software look for red storm entertainment folders and delete along with any UBI soft and UBI soft entertainment folders and delete

now do this:

3- hkey_LocalMachine/ software/ Microsoft/ windows/ current version/ uninstall directory there should be a folder here named "{D89EF3B3-6F17-4665-B7A9-A4235A6DC787}" with some Ghost Recon info in it so delete only the ghost recon related info.

UBI Game Service .exe

Try this:

i removed ubi.com softwares and maps , also deleted in regedit, re-downloaded ubi.com software [5.71 MB] and re-installed.
i still get that 'can't download setting file' after the splash screen ....
i think it has something to do with connections and not the software ? or both ? but my GR works fine, i have played with in-game browser , i got some IP's from server listng forum and thx to tell me that it doesnt connect to a host

i really thought it was broken

i can also play GR with gamespy arcade and all seeying eye

so my GR works fine, i got some mods , the map is now over 1 GB large ... it's only the Ubi.Com that doesnt work

btw i live in Belgium, the only Cable provider is Telenet [ http://www.telenet.be ] and we all use proxies ... maybe that little info can help ?

i tried again with proxytunnel but on Telenet Forums i found something that helps a little

ActiveX

ActiveX is a Microsoft software technology that allows networked components to interact with each other independently of the languages they are written in. ActiveX is used for applications dealing with the Internet and the Wold Wide Web. For more information about ActiveX please visit http:// www.microsoft.com/

Before you can log on to the ubi.com Game Service, you must make sure that you have the correct ubi.com ActiveX software installed. When you first visit ubi.com you will see a dialog box pop up asking you to install the CoGSManager Class (ubi.com Manager).

Normally, clicking YES on this box will install the correct ActiveX controls and everything should work fine.

If you are having trouble with ActiveX or are getting an error message related to ActiveX, please try these troubleshooting tips:

Step 1:
Open Internet Explorer, click on 'Tools' then select 'Internet Options.' Select the 'Security' tab and select the 'Internet' tab. From there, set your Internet Security back to its default settings.

Step 2:
Reboot your computer. When it comes back up, do not start either Internet Explorer or ubi.com Game Service.

You will need to go the following folder 'c:\windows\downloaded program files\' and find the files named 'CoGSManager Class'.

If the file is there, delete the file.
After the file is deleted, simply go to http://gamingzone.ubisoft.com" target=_blank>http://gamingzone.ubisoft.com</a>" target=_blank>http://gamingzone.ubisoft.com</a> and a window will appear (see picture above) asking you to accept the ActiveX. You will NEED to click YES.

If the file was not found, simply go to http://gamingzone.ubisoft.com and a window will appear asking you to accept the ActiveX. Click YES on this window.

If the window does not appear right away, press F5 a few times until it appears.

Step 3: (for Dial-Up Connections)
Completely remove all traces of ubi.com from your computer, then set your Internet Security to Medium-Low and the Packets to large.

1. Go to the "Control Panel" and open the "Network" applet.
2. On the "Network" dialog, select the "Configuration" tab.
3. Double-Click "Dial-Up Adapter"
4. Select the "Advanced" tab
5. Change the "IP Packet Size" from "Automatic" to "Large"
6. Click OK to close the remaining windows and reboot your computer.

Download the latest version from http://gamingzone.ubisoft.com, and install it.

GSMANAGER.INF size : 512 (bytes)

i started Ubi.Com on and i keep getting this error :

(off course i have enabled ProxyTunnel or i can't even get to the Games Listing)

After i clicked into that pitch black window, i have downloaded this file automatically :

i have just put that file somewhere in ubi.com mail folder
then i went to the gaming zone on this site and i get this error :

i thought: maybe i can try it with ubi.com program to connect to the lobby ... but it's exactly the same:

and why do i get a scripting error ? (bad scripters for the site? no offense

)

then i try to open al the required ports in my router and started all over but i keep getting these errors ... i hope the ports are enabled like this :

1: MSN Gaming Zone
2: Ghost Recon Ubi.Com
3: Ghost Recon Ubi.Com
4: Ghost Recon Ubi.Com
5: Quick Time 4

Pasting links:

easy way: when you're on a site you wanna link, click "File" and the "Send" and then "shortcut to desktop".

Rightclick the shortcut>properties, highlight the URL-path and then copy/paste.

As to your problem: I think the game isn't installed correctly. The UBI walkthrough from Snipe21 really should have solved that.

I have a router and forward posts 2346 - 2348 for hosting a game. I don't change any settings to enter the UBI (well I don't play in there but have no problems in connecting).

You can download the freeware "All Seeying Eye" from http://www.udpsoft.com. Many players use that today to find servers.
Try that and see if you can connect to a server.

If that still fails, do a full uninstall of the game and follow this link by the letter to make sure that all files/registry entries of Ghost Recon have been removed:

well, in my previous posts (but hey are soooo long that there's no time to read them all n/o) i said i could play on GameSpy Arcade and on All Seeying Eye, also with HLSW (but thats just a browser , no connecting to server lists)
Ghost Recon is real fun, but it's a pain in the *** when you just found a host that has a good ping , you connect to it and *BAM* disconnected because you dont have this and that mod ... *pfff* now thats another storie, let's stick it to Ubi.Com software ...
i just want to play on Ubi.com because there are more GR Players on UBI then on All Seeying Eye ...
and about those images, what you were saying it like 'taking the long way', much more easyier is copy/paste the address from the URL bar ...
but what I mention is HTML tags for this forum like

When it's said that someone's "got eyes in his neck" it means he sees everything. Apparently I only had eyes in my neck and did not register what was written on the screen. I really missed all that you mentioned about Game Spy etc. Sorry.

I cannot find anything else apart from the Ubi software that's playing you tricks. If it's just Ubi software or if it has filtered into the Ghost Recon settings, I don't know so can only suggest a complete uninstall and re-install.

As to the router: again, don't think that "port triggering" is necessary, only for hosting you should use "port forwarding" (not port triggering).

URLs: you are right but sometimes when I copy/paste a subsite, it's the main page of the website that's pasted. Using the long way via the desktop "shortcut" eliminates this problem.
