This game is horrible. It is:

1. Extremely buggy
2. Inane - the characters keep repeating the same things and even say "where is he?" after the player is dead
3. The shooting feel is very sterile - and the frame rate lags on my 2.5 gig with a 9700!!!
4. It looks like a tech demo that they tried to make into a game.
5. The AI is really basic (although it was hyped up a lot)
6. Graphically it is nice, but graphics don't make a game.
7. Insanely difficult
8. Horrendous sfx
9. Where is the hook?

It looks like another winner from Ubi.....

AI has problems - sure its good, but thats all- not as promised.
SFX are crap thus far, i mean come on a grenade goes boom.

Well I d/l it yesterday and completed it yesterday and it was pretty tough (at the fort) I felt the reason for this was the AI was smart but not unfair, it runs super smooth on my 2.6 p4 9800 pro on full detail and cant wait for more, especially a co-op demo come on UBI this will rock in co-op mode!

I usually try to stay away from boards for games because of people like you, but when I read your idiotic ramblings, I had to register.

First of all, I have a 2.09 Athlon 2600+ with 512 megs of ram and a Radeon 9500 128 meg, non-overclocked card. I run the Far-Cry demo at 1152 x 864 with everything turned all the way up except for texture filtering, and the game runs great. If you knew anything about gaming, technology, or coding you would understand that this is the best engine released to the public since Quake 1.

What happens when you install Half-Life 2 on your computer and it runs even worse? How about Doom 3? Will you say those games suck because theres something wrong with your computer or because you don't know how to adjust settings? I have the Doom 3 alpha on my machine as well as the full version of Deus Ex 2, these are the two closest comparisons to Far Cry in terms of technological achievements and they run like SH!T compared to this demo. Not to mention the maps in those games are tiny and almost all indoors with no dense vegetation.

The sound is great in my opinion, sure maybe some of the sounds get repetitive, but only if you keep dieing. But why do you think they released this demo? It's not hard to figure out...this demo is another form of beta testing, and I am extremely pleased to see a company release a public demo before the final product, if you knew some history of FPS games you would know that the best games always had demos released first.

Plus you attack the AI?? How many FPS games have you played recently? Why don't you enlighten us all and list some games with outstanding AI since you are an expert. You say the AI is basic yet you say the game is impossibly hard....what does that tell you? That says you are just mad because you suck at the game. Learn how to play, defrag your hd, take some damn ridilin, and shut the hell up.

I cant see what you have wrong with the demo. For a start, its just that, a demo. The full game comes out in 3 months time, after the beta testing. Even with the bugs, the game is more than playable. The AI is damn good. It strikes the balance between alertness and humanness, making stealth possible (only other game i have seen do this was Deus Ex).

Secondly, the openess and freeform style of the game is brilliant.

What you have wrong with the SFX is beyond me.

For the graphics card, i have a Geforce 4 ti 4600 and the game runs perfectly well at the top settings (as long as i turn anti aliasing off, so dont panic all of you who just bought a new card)

Overall, i was far more impresse by this demop alone than many full products out there
