Has anyone ever had to deal with an asbestos removal from there home. My hot water tank ruptured last night and went under the subfloor in the basement. When the clean up crew came they lifted the carpet on the subfloor they found asbestos tiles under. Advice??

Not sure about the tiles though . Perhaps call the City ? Don't think it should be that hard to get rid of them . They still use the stuff in brake shoes , don't they ??? Or ask a building supply .
Anyway , try not to sand anymore then you have to and wear a good mask .

I have been on a couple of construction/remodeling job sites where they were removing abestos. They would section off small sections and seal it in. the workers who were doing the abestos removing wore resperators.

When I remodeled my kitchen five years back we had suspected asbestos containing flooring. The solutions were to hire a special removal company or contain it by putting a plywood flooring over it and then putting down the modern vinyl flooring over that. So I put 1/4 inch plywood down and went from there.
Best check with your local flooring company and see if they know of newer rules.
In tile form, it can be left in place. If you want it removed you'll need a company that does asbestos removal. And you can't dump it just anywhere. Has to be at an approved site.

What Homer said is correct. Most older floor tiles have asbestos because it doesn't wear as much and they can be left alone. I don't know how it is with private individuals but companies that have asbestos removed are still liable for any problems people have from the asbestos in the future.
