I have this board. I recently bought another stick of 512 RAM bringing my mem up to 1.5G DDR 400 RAM. However when i boot it shows me in dual channel mode and I get this bluescreen error message and then at the bottom it says its dumping memory. I have since removed the extra 512 and I will wait to see if it happens again. I though this board would only run dual channel if there were two DIMMS, and even then one in socket 1 and the other in socket 3. I though if you filled all the slots it would just count up the RAM and be happy. No that i have mem in 1 & 2 it says 1G in single channel mode. Should I just take tat extra 512 back?

    Take it back!

It must match exactly the existing RAM.

And yes it will still be in dual channel mode.

Mix 'n matching memory is fraught with problems BC.

I have the same board with 512 in the first and 256 the third. Their both Kingston 3200 and bus speed is 400 with no problems. I would return the stick, I doubt over 1 gig is really necessary.

What kind of RAM is it? PC3200? I know that you said you have a Barton 2500 oc'd.. so I assume that you are ocing the fsb.

    I have two A7N8X's (A7N8X-E Deluxe and A7N8X-X)(Had a A7N8X Del rev 1.04 before I broke it)

I had to buy fairly high quality RAM to be able to run a 200 fsb (even with the XP 3200). I have some Kingston PC4000 and OCZ PC3700. Both will run stable at 200 fsb. Unfortunately, my Samsung RAM now will not.

I would think it is will help your game performance far more to run 1 GB if good ram at 400 mhz than 1.5 GB at 333, or slower.

I'm just hoping that BoB won't require over a GB of RAM.

I have the Asus a7n8x delux v 2.0 and I am running 2 sticks(matched Corsair ddr400) in dual channel mode.I read where it will run in dual channel mode with 3 sticks( I was contemplating adding more). My guess is that they all need to be matched. Not all ddr is created equal.

They are all 512 sticks of Crucial RAM.

    And the same rating?

Try removing all but the latest one and run a Memtest on it.

If you buy Crucial RAM from Crucial, using their selector, it is guaranteed to work.

Sadly IIRC it is relatively slow RAM with a CL of 2.5 for 2700(333) and CL 3 for 3200 (400).

They list two 512Mb PC2700 modules for the A7N8X Deluxe board:
    CT6464Z335
    and
    CT3264Z335

Worrying that they don't list a compatible 512mb PC3200 (DDR400) module in the UK, but the US is:

    CT6464Z40BA

You could try running Aida32 to confirm th RAM you have installed.
