TFX was a flight sim that came out in the 90's by DiD software and was published by Ocean. It was the first flight sim that I went nuts over - brought a 486 DX2 to play it on! You had 3 planes, F22, F117, Eurofighter.

Damn, I lost my life to that game hehe.

Well, I have just found the game! ON FLOPPY DISC'S ! Rofl
Gonna try to install it in a minute hehe!

Oooh! Old games. I used to play them when I was a kid.
Never played Flight sims though, couldn't handle flying using the joystick.
I used to be so jealous of my friends with their joysticks playing X-wing vs. Tie fighter.

Hehe

Hehe, I've already started a post about TFX - or more specifically the music from it. However, it seems astho you're another one of the poor buggers with a copy on disks, I had mine on CD and it's got one kickass midi style soundtrack...will definately listen to it at least once with lomac!!!

Cheers,

I bought TFX just after it came out. It rocked!
It was on nine 3.5" or something.

It's listed as abandonware and can be downloaded here:
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1145

I loved it, but it didn't stay with me forever.

Here's a quote from The Underdogs which I can really relate to:
"The sounds is also very good, with the annoying exception of the "lizard family" (every time you lock an enemy fighter the game goes off with "Traaaacking. looks like a lizard". by their sheer numbers, obviously lizards rule the Earth in TFX)."

TFX may have been crap in retrospect, but it certinaly did pioneer some flight sim inovations like the virtual cockpit.

...and i'd forgotton about that lizard stuff - hillarious!

i also don't remember all the bugs you're referring to caretaker, maybe they were only on the floppy verion? I just checked over my shoudler and I still have the original TFX CD right below the Ef2000 and Tactcom upgrades!!

Whatever happened to DID anyway?

TFX was the first PC game I bought after leaving my Amiga behind, after TFX was dropped from the CD32 i simply 'had' to get a PC.

I had the CD version also, it included an Inferno trailer on which I drooled over many many times. lol

The sense of speed was incredible and flying through the clouds was like nothing I'd seen before in a game. It had 3D virtual cockpits too!

Great memories indeed.

I hated TFX. I bought it on my birthday, as a present for myself; also on discs. Well, one disc had an error, but the installer ran through and just didn't finish because the checksum was wrong. So I cracked the installer and made it ignore the checksum Well it still didn't work of course.

Three weeks later I was finally able to exchange the disks. They were broken again, but this time I got it to run (only some menu backgrounds were broken).

The game was still bad though, and full of bugs (rearward-flying refueller was my favourite - and the laser turrets of the MiG-29 were also remarkable). The fake screenshots of transparent missile smoke and other effects on the box and in ads also had nothing in common with how the game looked like (which wasn't bad, but not that great either). Content was very limited (three flyables, three enemy planes, and some choppers...).

The third set of disks was broken again, the fourth one though finally worked, but I didn't bother any more by then... just checked that the bugs were still there, and then sold it on.

A real dud for me. Neither did it provide enough show factor and fun like Strike Commander had, nor was there enough realism like in Falcon3 or Tornado.

That was quick!

Hmmm...wargasm is definately the WORST title for a game I've ever heard LOL

As for DID,
Interesting article @ http://us.thrustmaster.com/news/read...=94&skin=Hotas

but still doesn't totally answer the question of what happened to Rage, or the details...cause it don't seem like they're around either!

I vaguely remember the errors Caretakers mentions.
As I recall, the game worked perfectly when I first tried it, but when I got back to it a few years later, it wouldn't install.

I think DID croaked after Wargasm in -99.
