when I see bombers, I usually see them lined up in groups of threes stacked on top of each other in this pattern: Can we choose which type of formation to put bombers in, lines, boxes, etc... It would be neat and also more accurate historically.

I haven't found any method of doing this, nor heard of one. In FB bombers tend to fly in vics or finger four until they near the target, when they will (sometimes) manouver into a straight line, and that's about it. Of course, it is possible to place individual flights above and behind others using the FMB - very time consuming though.

Bombers tend to fly in single file formation when their next waypoint is ground attack.
Inserting an extra waypoint before the ground attack waypoint will keep them from flying in single file.

I find that bombers will only line up if there is a specific target (ie a truck cloumn). Just calling the waypoint "GAttack" and placing it over what needs some bombin' works for me.
I had four boxes of four He111s bomb in formation (diamond) on the GAttack waypoint, just placed over a factory with some trucks around them. Plus have been the tail end charlie in a fourship of he111s against similar (always stayed in diamond).
Hope this helps, or I have misunderstood your problem totally.
