Thread: 3D Audio? | Forums

What does this do exactly? I am now using Open AL audio drivers with no 3D audio. My frame rate has improved immensely but i hear absolutely no difference in my sound. But when I turn 3d audio back on, my frame rate is nonexistant. What does this do?

I know for a fact tho, that I can use 3d audio with the normal dare audio drivers in normal RvS maps, on 800x600 med details. In AS i have to use 640x480 with low details, no 3d audio, and OpenAL audio.

sup snow. Do you use stereo headphones and a creative or other higher-end soundcard? If you do, then 3d audio makes a big difference. I can't play the way i normally do without 3d audio on, since I can't turn EAX on with 3d audio off. If I do that, then I'll have to resort to camping or running around like a rabbit, rather than skulking slowly listening for footsteps.
