Hey everyone, i just want to outline a new idea here that hopefully will take off.
Since the map contests seem to cause a lot of venom to be spewed out from otherwise intelligent individuals, I thought it would be good to start doing what we all like to do. Let the bullets do the talking.
Since FarCry does not support clans, we should create teams of 4-5 players and compete against each other on a weekly basis on our user created masterpieces. The people on your team do not have to be involved in this community, they just need to own a copy of PREDATOR and be able to play at the set times.
Are there prizes involved? No. Not a one. Ever. This will strictly be for bragging rights.
If this takes off it could also be established for those of you who play Evolution, but this is set up for predator only.

So how will this work you ask? Well like this.
Create a team and a team name. My team is R.A.I.D. (Radical Advancements In Destruction) Once you have assembled your team post the team name and team members G.T's on this page. once we have enough teams, say 6 we can begin setting up a competition tree.
Remember, your team can be made up of anyone in your friends list as long as they play the game.

Most of us seem to play on the weekends so that is when the matchs will happen. Also the best time that seems universal due to our real lives is 11pm EST so that will be the start time. for all competition.

matches will last eight rounds per night Friday and saturday. in one game mode only. Once the teams and their opponents are decided, one member from each host team will set up a dedicated host to be listed on this page for the purpose of letting the competition and other team members download the maps for the weeks competition. Each match should be made up of no less than six and no more than eight maps to be chosen by the hosting team Which after week one will be the team that scored the most wins that week. They will compete against the next winningest team. followed by the next two against each other and so on. This is how we will decide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Once the players have downloaded the maps it is up to them to set up a private room with thier teammates to learn each map by either playing or running through and checking things out until they feel they have a lock on it. Because once the two teams meet, its game on.
This is not about rambo it is about teamwork and strategy. If you are a better defensive player than offensive, then help your team by defending the base and vice-versa because the only score that will have any bearing on the competition will be the team score.
Once the teams are formed and listed here, I will decide who battles who. If you compete on friday, then on saturday you will come to this page to notify me of who won the round and most importent, is how many matchs your team won by. This is how we will decide who battles who in the next round. This will go on for three weeks with only one gametype played by all teams each week. The winningest team from each bracket will choose the maps for the next match and which of thier teammates will host the round. Each week your team will have to download maps from your competition and repeat the process. After three weeks of battle, the two winningest teams will battle for the title of grand champion and the team that enters this round with the most points will not only choose the maps for the round but also the game type to be played. This will decide the months champion, and the other teams will battle for second and third place respectivley. Then we will start over and do it again with hopefully more maps to frag each other on.

Once the competitors are chosen, the host team should choose the maps, list those maps here and set up a dedicated by the following day only containing those listed maps. If at any time during a match a map has to be downloaded and it is not a posted map, that team will be disqualified from the round. It is imperative that each team has plenty of time to learn how to play the maps before the match so it is not a one sided battle. ANY USER CREATED MAP IS ALLOWED AS LONG AS IT SUPPORTS THE GAME TYPE.

The game types allowed are S.T.S, S & S and Team Chaos. Predator is not a team game so it will not be accepted. In the fourth round, if the lead team wants to use a custom game type such as Attack and Defend, It will be allowed only if all of the maps support the mode prior to the dedicated hosting download time.

No judges are needed and everyone is eligable to participate. And there are no official team captains.
I will keep track of the brackets and set up the matchs. There is no way to cheat here since you will be posting who won and how many matchs they won by right here for all to see.

WEEK 1: Gametype- Seek and Secure

WEEK 2: Gametype- Steal the Sample

WEEK 3: Gametype- Team Chaos

WEEK 4: Gametype- choice of each host team.

Also in case you are wondering, when we go to the second month of competition teams will be paired up randomly and not by previous bracket positions.
I hope this appeals to everyone here because i got a cramp writing this up, and i think i hurt my brain during conception of the idea. But thats ok.... My trigger finger suffered no damage.

As soon as the DVD is finished I will be finishing the GamerResource code that will let you run this sort of thing with full NFL-style stnadings and playoffs. The GamerResource Leagues and Tournaments are designed for anyone and any game, allow you to control the participants or the the community of teams (with mascots and insignias) sign-up. We plan on running some official Tournaments (basically stand-alone playoffs) with prizes to launch the new features starting June 1.

Sure. My initial thought is that the matchs would be made up of maps from members of each team and that they would hopefully try to showcase thier best work. Or maps that they have downloaded that are top notch. For example my map Facility 13 is a fun map if you know how to fast travel, but some people that i have played on it asked if we could do a round or two just running around in the map so they could figure it out. This is why i feel downloading the maps for that weeks match is a good way to not only get an in depth look at some user maps (more than you can when bullets are flying) but also go into the game and have it rock from the first second to the last. Clubside; If you are setting up a ranking board for this kind of thing maybe your site could keep the tally and we could just follow the setup that i outlined here. Also, since we would be deciding who plays who based on the numeric score. These could be tallied at the end of the year to decide an overall champion.
I am just trying to come up with a way for us to enjoy our maps with our peers without all the b*tching and negative remarks that seem to follow map contests.
On a final note we could probobly talk the guys at PFC into letting us use their dedicated to host the match's. I don't know it is just an idea, and i am open to suggestions.

I think matches should consist of teams of no more than 5 people. That way you can get a 10-person room, which seems to be about the most you can really get on most servers without significant lag.

Of course, teams could have more members. Every now and then, someone might not be able to make it to a session, then one of the extra members could step in.

Woo hoo! Finally a little interest is showing. The teams should definatly top out at 5 people each. Having a couple of alternates is good since schedules tend to change. All of the things i layed out above have factored in lag due to the amount of people most people can manage. Now i just need to get some people on my team so i am not left off of the island.
By the way, July 23rd i think it is, is Frag Doll friday on XBOX LIVE. They will be playing Far Cry Predator. It was on the event calender in the new OXM.
WE should let some teams form first at least six so we can have a good amount of variety of opponents. Once we have that many guranteed groups we can start setting up matchs.
Oh yeah My wife is throwing me a birthday BBQ on May 20, so i doubt i will be standing after about 7pm.

I invited the Frag Dolls also. I've played against them a few times on GRAW, and I know several of them like to play Far Cry as well. In addition, there are several guys from the Frag Doll forum that are pretty good at Far Cry, so I left a post on the forum there telling them about the teams forming up.

This is my team so far, I have sent out invites to a few people on my friends list who have posted on this page, but have not recieved a yes or no from them.
This page has been linked to about 4 different sites over the weekend including the FRAG DOLLS site. (Thanks Brim) To which i went and posted a few more things including a link to this page. I think it has gotten more positive response on thier boards.
All you need are at least four primary members and two or three secondarys in case someone cannot play one night. Lets get this ball rolling I want to frag something, I want to check out some new maps.
Off topic; My new map Helicarrier is posted at PFC since yesterday, check it out.

Thats right Reyule, FRAG something. I usually feel this way after work but.. this is different.
Anyway, I would like to announce the newest member of my team.... Wukie Slap. Yes thats right, PFC's own map master has decided to join us for some 5.1 surround sound of destruction. I still need an alternate for those "my wife wants attention blues".
Also, as an added bonus, He has posted my entire six hundred and sixty six word layout of this tourney on the main page of PFC and on TeamXbox to let everyone who visits know about this so they can form a team and get in on the fun. That site had like a 150,000 hits the other day so maybe that will help. I will say that i am dissapointed by the regulars here for not jumping on this. This is all about fun and showing off your best work.
