C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Demo\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Demo\Data\settings\

Open the renderer_settings.xml with wordpad edit the resolution and refresh rate that suits your monitor, set each texture setting that is on medium to high and that should also give you high textures..

Yes it works.. textures do seem to be higher than the default medium setting.. At least they seem that way to me..Most importantly the resolution change should help those with wide screen lcd's.. Also the post effect quality setting I think controls HDR..(Bloom look seems to go away for me when I set this to false) Setting it to False might help those with older cards..

Thank you! bow The game runs uber smooth on my system at 1280x1024, and I hated the bland textures.

When the autodetect happens, if it detects a high end card, does it automatically set all these settings to high? Reason being is that when I open the XML, all values are already set to high

If you have a 512mb card that may be the case.. I myself have a 7800gtx 256mb card and it detected mine at medium textures so video ram may be the desiding factor..I never trust auto detect anyhow thats why I started snooping through to find the settings in a file instead..

Yep, this is the official high texture. Check this out:

That happens when you adjust the config file. This is on my 7900 GT 256 mb. Still runs it smoothly.

Hey dude, nice find. I tried it and it did work, although the new eye candy, came with a performance penalty.
It seems that my geforce 7800GT isn't able to handle the higher textures at avobe 30FPS. Moreover, I'm also getting stutteting, perhaps this is because I'm using just below 1Gig of RAM....

Thanks was looking for a way to change res to wide screen. Only changed a few to high to test out and see which work better on what setting.

Hopefully they will make a profile for the G15 keyboard, not to fond of the new team controls so far but only tried it a few times.

The first time out the chopper my guy was stuck in the building.
Dont see a preview post option here so not sure how SS will look. This is before I changed settings.

Not the top of the line rig but does the job for the games I play..

ASUSP4P800 DLX mobo
P4 2.6@2.8, 3 Gigs of ram 3200
Maxtor SATA 150 100GB

Well I'm glad I could help you guys.. I don't have a wide screen display but that is the main reason I posted this find the texture deal was an extra.. I read so much about games not supporting it..

evolver111: I had the same problem. Change the "texture_guality_ground" to medium, while leaving the others high. It removes the black bars from the ground. At least it did it for me.

Thanks for this. I really can't stand it when game developers try and limit your options with auto-detect. If I pay for the game, I should be able to make any goddamn settings change that I feel like making on whatever system I have. Any limitation based on auto-detect is ****ing ridiculous. Auto-detect should be a recommendation and NOTHING more.
