Hi all,

Not sure if anyone has found this yet but I seem to have found how to enable god mode in single player.

If you open the file "u_player" with a hex editor, such as XVi32, full path as follows

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Data\units\beings\u_player

Do a search for "god", change the value="false" to value="true". There are three instances of god mode value="false" in the file, change all three to value="true".
Save the file and delete the file u_player.xml bin file.
Make sure the context xml file in the GRAW install folder has the four compile options set to true.

The game might not recognise god mode is on if loading a saved file so you might need to restart a level.

is this for the whole team or just the player?

I am not an employee of Eagle Dynamics nor Ubisoft and I do not speak for them.
All my comments are IMHO

I've never encountered a game that had so much user editing involved. Even cheats requires editing!

You need to unpack the quick.bundle file, found in the "bundles" folder. Check out Ghostrecon.net for the exe to do this. When you do all of the game files are visible, and editable. You will also need to rename the quick.bundle file to something else like quick.bak, better still copy it to another location on your hard disk.
I copied my entire GRAW install folder to a temp folder on my C drive, in case I changed a file and crashed the game.

DayGlow ...
as far as I know it is just for the player. I didn't try to kill one of my own squad ...
I was stuck at the end of the VIP2 mission, like many, and got really fed up with the game. So I tried editing several game files. When I continued from the last save point god mode didn't actually work but I somehow managed to finish the level after umpteen attempts. When I started the next level I did't realise at first that god mode was working. I don't really enjoy having to use god mode, especially after paying 50 euro for the game and waiting so long for the game to be released, but when you're stuck ....

I also managed at one stage to make the enemy AI invulnerable, by editing the god mode value to true in another file. But I don't think that anyone will be using that mod !

Man, for the life of me....I tried doing this according to the tutorial in your link. I could not get it to work. Now I know I;m doing something wrong, I just don't have enough experiance with this to know what it is. What I need is a really detailed tutorial, you know, like "for dummies?" 'cause I feel like one right now...

Get the G.R.A.W. Bundle Extractor by Nemon http://www.ghostrecon.net/files/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=323

<PATH> is the path where Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter resides, FYI.

i.e. C:\Program Files\ = <PATH>, so you would have

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\

as the complete path.

Unzip the downloaded bundle reader.
Copy BundleReader.EXE to <PATH>\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Bundles

Click the application: BundleReader.exe

Use the Open Bundle button and select the appropriate bundles, i.e. quick.bundle.

Select the root node, quick.bundle from the left window.

Click the Extract Node button, and select the <PATH>Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Data folder, then click OK.

Wait about ten minutes.

Click the Open Bundle button and select the patch.bundle, select the root node patch.bundle from the left window, click the Extract Node button (see above).

Close the Bundle Extractor program.

Go back to <PATH>Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Bundles
Rename quick.bundle to quick.bundle.bak
Rename patch.bundle to patch.bundle.bak

Go to <PATH>Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Data\units\beings.

Edit u_player.xml.

Use the Find menu and search DOWN for "god". A line should pop up saying:
<var name="god_mode" value="false"/>

Change value="false" to value="true"

You only need to change this one value.

Save u_player.xml

Now RELOAD your level of choice in GRAW.

Have fun!

This enables god mode and infinite ammo/infinite ZEUSs too!

Unfortunately, your ai teammates remain vulnerable to damage. But who needs them when you're GOD!

Kudos to paulkel101!

When you say use the open bundle button, will I also have to unpack the bundle into the folders I created? I think somewhere in here is where I'm running into a problem. I've never worked with bundle files before...I just can't seem to get it to work right. I create new folders, use the BundleReader.exe to open (and unpack?) the quick.bundle file, is this correct?

If you edit u_teammates in (C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Data\units\beings)you can have god mode for your teammates too. It is 5 lines you have to change. If you open in MS word or Openoffice.org use the replace all to do them all at one time.

<var name="god_mode" value="false"/>
<var name="god_mode" value="true"/>

I noticed that 'god' mode gives infinite ammo as well, or at least it did in my game... don't know if it was a fluke or if it was supposed to... or it may have something to do with the game difficulty, I don't know...

Well this needs to be fixed big time. Tested this out and it does work for SP and MP. I hosted a COOP game and found that I could not be killed. Not to sure if it is only the person hosting the game or if you can make everyone invincible by changing the teammates selections. Not sure if it can be done in Domination or not....but Ubi/Grin really needs this fixed and tested or everyone will be unkillable in MP..lol

Then you didn't test it very well. Try it in MP and see?

ROFL should of expected this type of reply from you...hehehe. You're right though. I have not tested it all. Maybe if Ubi hired me I can test it for them.

I followed these instructions and got this error

"Crash in application version: grpcrc1.06

[Application::setup_scenes] Failed loading scene config file!"

Am I supposed to extract the bundles into the data folder?

I'm doing something wrong,

I followed both posts to the letter but the game still crashes one of the error sates that it can't open the quick.bundle file.

Edit: I the other error is the same as PaddyCaulfield's error

Here's what I did:

1.) Opened both quick and patch.bundle files and extracted them to data folder

2.) opened quick.bundle/data/beings/player (and teammates) and changed the god from false to true

3.) Opened contents.xml and changed the last four entries for compiling to true

4.) Renamed the orginal bundle files to quick.bundle.bak

5.) (optional when I couldn't get it to work), copied both quick and patch.bundle folders to bundles

You both seem to have left out one important step.
After editing the u_player.xml file you MUST delete the u_player.xml BIN file. If you don't do this the game has two versions of the same file and it will crash.

If you look in the unbundled folders you will see that most files have two similar versions, e.g. u_player.xml and u_player.xml BIN. Right click on a file and go to properties to see which one it is.Make sure you delete only the BIN file.

By editing the u_player.xml file you have changed its content,it is supposed to be exactly the same as the u_player.xml BIN file. If it isn't the game crashes to desktop. The game, I think, reads the BIN files as it loads to reduce load times. That is why when you extract the bundle file the game takes longer to load.

When you delete the u_player.xml BIN file the game will make a new version which will be the same as your edited version. If you edit the file again you must delete the BIN file every time.

Make sure you backup your files before you edit.
I copied my entire folder to be sure. Otherwise you might need to reinstall the whole game.

I also removed the quick.bundle file, even after I renamed it. I am now trying out some weapons mods and made a copy of the weapons folder inside of the existing folder but the game continued to work with the original files even though they were in a folder called "copy of weapons" In other words if you have renamed the quick.bundle file to quick.bundle.bak the game might still be reading the file as quick.bundle and disregarding the .bak extension.

Hope this helps.

Edit ..
You will know if god mode is on or not when the game loads by looking at the player health and silhouette in the lower left corner of the screen. Instead of being green or red it will be white. You will also have unlimited ammo.

@Paddy and Commando, the best way or at least the way I did it was to make a temp folder, such as Temp or Graw unpacked, then unpack ALL files from the both bundles into the temp folder.... then cut and past all the files and the data folder from inside the quick.bundle folder (that got extracted) and paste them into your ubi\ghost recon advanced warfighter\ folder, when it asks to replace the data folder, say yes to all... then rename your bundles to .BKP and edit your .xml files...
