My system is quite beefy with a i5-3570K and Nvidia 660 Ti GPU. I've recently been having pangs of nostalgia for old games, so decided to install my Settlers 4. I've installed the main game, mission pack and Trojan expansion and patched it.
It all loads fine (Videos play, Sound works) and I have no trouble starting a single player game. The problem is, when the scenario loads, I have a blank screen. No menu, no nothing. When I pass the mouse over where the menu should be it causes the settlers, buildings, trees and birds to appear but paused (you know, when you hover the mouse over the menu all the action stops thing?), but there is no landscape and action only seems to move along when the mouse is flicked on and off of the menu area. I also get a strange after-image effect (which makes me wonder if it's something to do with the framerate)

I tried searching around online and couldn't find any other occurrences of this. I've also tried changing the compatibility to different settings (XP, Vista, 98, Colours) but no luck.

Any ideas how this might be fixed?

I'm on Windows 7 with a Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series (if more info is needed, lemme know)

already played several hours with this game without any problem, but yesterday, when I loaded my saved game, I got the screen of my town but none of the buttons reacted anymore to a mouseclick + the bottom banner is gone. I restarted the computer but that didn't help. Loading a previous, autosaved game didn't help either. What is causing this and what can I do to fix it?

After rebooting and loading back up, I decided I wanted to play assassins creed. But uplay... Was playing settlers when windows update shut me down. After rebooting and loading back up, I decided I wanted to play assassins creed. But uplay asked me for the cd key. I copied the one from steam and it gave me an error. So I closed it completely. Opened it back up and tried again. Same thing. Uplay was asking me for the CD:Key for all of my games I had purchased through steam. So i tried again with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. And what do ya know it asked me again and told me the cd key was invalid. Annoyed I hit enter a few too many times and it told me my uplay account was temporarily banned. Kind of annoying if you ask me seeing as the game has been installed since 2011.

I can get around the ban easily by simply blocking uplay access to the internet, but I am sure this isn't the best method for me.

I have looked all over the support page for uplay and can not find anywhere to fill in a ticket so I can have access to the games which I have already paid for.
