Are you having errors installing/downloading the Uru To D'ni expansion pack?

Downloading the expansion pack
If you are having problems downloading the expansion pack, then try to download it from a different mirror:
Thread with a list of mirrors

Each type of mirror, has different types of ways to download it. Is recomended to use a program with resume features to download it. If the connection breaks, you can continue downloading it from another source, or continue in the same.
For example, most comom ftp clients have resume functions, wget has also resume functions and it works with http and ftp protocols. If you are using a program that directly grabs the download from different sources at the same time, then I need to say that this download could be easily corrupted.

==========================================================
----------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT! - How to detect if your download is correct, and your problems are not caused by a corrupted download. **

- First, the FILE SIZE:

The installer is called "UruToD'ni.exe".
The exact filesize in bytes is 181.990.087 bytes.
Please, ignore the "size in disk" reported by windows, you must compare the real size of the file.
One byte more or less, and you have a corrupted donwload. But this don't guarantees that you can have the same file size, and a byte changed.

- 2nd the Md5sum checksum. This one really verifies, that you have, the exact file that Cyan released. The Md5sum checksum of the file must be:
0982eb8e40ff841be670f0db98296382

How i check the md5sum checksum?

Very easy, If you have linux/cygwin/other, then this tool comes with these operating systems by default.
If you don't have this mandatory tool in your system, you can download it from here, there are some versions with a graphical interface, command line ones, and the page contains also some info of how works this tool.

================================================
------------------------------------------------

Game progress lost?
1st) Your progress from URU LIVE, was in URU LIVE SERVERS, and not in your game. You didn't lose any progress, the game, is at the same status as you leave it the last time that you played in offline mode.

2nd) Corrupted savegames:
* Savegames from the live updated installation, accessed by the offline mode, now work without problems.
* Savegames that were corrupted by the downgrade, doesn't work.

Someone is working on a tool, that will fix this corruption, you can also ask someone to sent you his sav folder. Also i think that someone has a savegame hosted somewhere.

Check this thread for more info about corrupted savegames.

UPDATE:
Deledrius, has created an unoficcial patcher, that fixes this problem.
More info about it here

================================================
------------------------------------------------

RT patch -- Error 32769

1st) Be completly sure that the md5sum signature posted is the same for your file. Read "IMPORTANT! - How to detect if your download is correct, and..." for more info.

2nd) Check that you have at least 3 GBytes of free space, be sure that you have them. (the game only needs 2GB, but some extra space is required for some temporany files created during the installation)

3th) Check that the path where the game is being installed doesn't contain international characters. Some localized versions of windows operaring system, can contain international characters in the "program files" localized path. Thanks to Mapss for reporting this issue (here).

================================================
------------------------------------------------

Errors during the installation
Some errors during the installation, are caused by read errors, accessing the CD-Room.

Read these posts for more info:
Scratched CD's
Cleaning your CD drive lenses - fix for some Xpack install problems?

================================================
------------------------------------------------

Hacked game?
Then completly delete it, and reinstall it again.

Pirated game?
Pirated software is illegal, and it doesn't work properly, and/or it contains malicius virus, backdoors, and other malwares.
You are not going to enjoy this game playing a pirated copy, you will hurt Uru, Cyan and the community doing this bad immoral action.

================================================
------------------------------------------------

Other problems?
Well, i noted, that the xpack installer, completly reinstalls the game, so, it will be very rare to see the corruption files error again.
That's all for now, please, if you have any problems, click on "reply" and tell us all details that you can.

I keep receiving the same error message:

RTPatch failed to install Uru-To Dni Expansion Pack: error 32769

I had an error when installing the expansion. It had something to do with an antiscreensaver rpc, or something to that effect. I sent an error report to Microsoft and then continued ok. Weird. This was on WinXp home.

any progress within the xpack is gone when i either link out of an age, or exit the program, its just like starting over again, is it because i choose the To-d'ni icon on the desktop?

HI,

Whatever I trie (run xpack, deinstall Uru then runXpack, reinstall then etc.....) I get the following error;

Feature transfer error

Feature: Ururpatch
Component:
File:
Error: Catastrophic failure

I have changed cd-player, exited firewall and av-software.

Nothing seems to help.

The error pops up after say 80% of installing, just at the moment where the progressindicator mentions "installing".

Any ideas?

Thanx,
Marius

Greetings,

I tried the download twice, and both times received an error with the "game extras" portion. Stated the file did not exist, or there was an error with the syntax.

Anyone else?

Blessed be,

Ravenika ~_~

I'm getting the same message over and over again:

Setup has detected that your CD is not valid.

How come? Of course my CD is valid! And it's clean and unscratched.
The message shows during the installation of the xpack, after I set up all the folders to install.
I've downloaded the xpack again, checked with your post for the original size of the file, everything seems ok, but the problem persist.
I've tried to change drives, to copy the contents of the CD to a folder in the hardrive to see if I can get any different message. Nothing.
I've also uninstalled the whole game, installed it again, played to the end to see if that could be the problem. No better luck.
I'm out of ideas. Do you have any? Can you help? I'm getting desperate.

Almol and others, Winhex has a function to read MD5 checksums. I ran it against the download last night and it reported the number you stated in your initial post in this thread.

Open urutodni.exe in Winhex. Click on the tools menu and click on check hash. In the drop down box click on MD5.

I mention this since a lot of people were using Winhex to try the hacks that have been posted.

almol, Iâ´m having the same problem as Sechat.
Please help us with what it seems to be a SafeDisc copy protection issue!
Here is what I wrote in another thread this morning :

Iâ´m desperate! I canâ´t install Urutodni in my computer! I tried everything from 7:30 pm yesterday until 4:30am today. Iâ´m tired, frustated and very angry at this stupid SafeDisc/InstallShield/"few CD-ROM drives compatible" issue!

I donâ´t think is reasonable if I have to buy another CD-ROM drive just to apply this XP1. Can anyone give me some hint, advise, anything?

This is what I did so far :

. I did a completely new install on Sunday (in a different directory, that XP1 detected) and played the whole game entirely
. I have an LG CRD-8520B drive. I managed to exchange it for a Matsh_ita CR-585-B drive yesterday night. I know both are old drives, and the error message ("SETUP HAS DETECTED THAT YOUR CD IS NOT VALID") occurs with both of them
. I ran SafeDisc utility at least 5 times...no luck
. I tried some of the things contained in Microsoft KB article 228985...nothing!
. One strange point is : I can run the game from the CD-ROM. The CD itself is brand new, with no scratches at all
. May the problem be the CD? Iâ´m from Brazil, this 3rd World country...in its inner ring is written: "SONOPRESS.UBB08044560CD 14683/03"
(I think I read somewhere that this label in US CDs has a "SafeDisc" as part of it, but Iâ´m not sure)
. I know that URU has SafeDisc v3.10.020, but coult it be that Urutodni app has some additional safeguard tool?
. Another info : when I select the cd-rom drive (in my case e:\), after the error message the damned install App simply goes crazy. It endlessly consumes CPU and begin reading I donâ´t know what for dozens of minutes!?!?! It should stop after the error message, but it doesnâ´t! I have to "End Task" it with Task Manager (by the way, at this moment there are 2 copies of urutodni.exe plus 1 copy of urusetup.exe running)

Well, I donâ´t know what else to say. Ah, DXDIAG detects no problem with my installation. I have a P3 800MHz with 384MB RAM and GeForce4MX. I run the whole game without any noticeable problem. One more info : I didnâ´t apply Update 1.2, since it was not necessary at all to me.

Well, these are the facts. Any help you can give itâ´ll be immensely apreciated.

Greetings...

Exactly the same thing is happening to me. Anyone got any ideas how to fix, short of uninstalling and reinstalling *again*? (I just reinstalled the game Sunday and replayed to be ready for the expansion pack!)

Does this have anything to do with the patch found at this site? http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=8803&p_created=1069701658
I've downloaded it, but when I try to install it, it points to the directory it wants and then says it can't find it! Yet it's right there.
"c:\program files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds\Uru - Ages Beyond Myst" is the directory it displays as being where it's about to install but then says it can't find "Uru - Ages Beyond Myst"!!! I've tried pointing it to Cyan Worlds instead but that doesn't work either.

HELP!

Conquerermtm, I'm also from Brazil. I've played the Live version without any problems. I'm wondering if they issued a different version of the game to other countries.

Estibel, I had the same problem, so i gave up from installing 1.2 Update.
I think Cyan is not putting enough effort in these releases:
--> 1.2 Update - it doesnâ´t ask (or search, like Urutodni) what is the installed game directory. Itâ´s unacceptable!
--> Urutodni.exe - it seems that it has a more "advanced" version of SafeDisc, since my CD-ROM drive is ok to install and run the game, but I get an error message whem I try to install XP1.
In other words, you have bought the original CD but cannot install the "FREE" expansion pack.

We have to complain for them to be more careful...

Greetings

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread for my problem...I had finished Uru prime, but never got a chance to try Uru live. while waitng for the x-pack I went back and did all the necessary jumps to get all my relto pages and even did the balcony jump and got my neighbor hood and nexus book.
Yesterday I downloaded the x-pack from gigex and that seemed to go fine- but at about a quarter of the way thru the install wizard, my computer completely locked up and crashed! there was nothing I could do except to turn it off and cold start it again- It had saved my download, but all my original Uru progress was lost- while it did the install wizard, it told me that it couldn't find any Uru files-so it completely reinstalled the game. when I tried to play the x-pack- it started me in the desert again- I thought I'd have to go thru the whole game over again. but when I got my relto I had the x-pack books on my shelf- the neighborhood link book and the new yeesha book. I can go ahead and play the x-pack now and I guess eventually go back and redo all the Prime ages again if I have to- But my question here is two fold:
1.- Can I finish the new game ("To D'ni") without having to finish all the Prime ages first?
and 2. Does anyone know if there is anyway to get my original game back as it was before the download? any help is appreciated- thanks-
-Zoot

Zoots problem seems to kinda be like mine, ill explain, I still had my problem with the above post, so i reinstalled the xpack, this erased all my saved progress without warning me! I did wind up in the desert, but I exited the program and put in my handy dandy savegame backup, i returned to my rainy relto, went to the hood, got the island page, went to the ferry, got my dock, went back to relto, stood on my dock, and exited the game, i run the game again, and i link to a rainy relto, old shirt on, my fancy hat and leather jacket gone, dock, gone, islands gone, and no nexus book. What is going on? anything I do, is undone when I exit the game!

Some points after reading a lot of threads, some posts, e-mails, other forums... arghh, welll..

** Random errors installing the game:
--> Seems that this random errors, at different stages of the installation are caused by two possible causes (space or cd-rom):
* There isn't enought available free space. Check that you have at least 3GBytes. (the game only requires 2GB, but add 1GB more for temporany files..)
* Temporany tmp folders don't have enought free space. These folders can be located at different places, i didn't have enought time to monitor the disk accesses by the installer. Normally the tmp folder is in the same partition were the OS is installed, check the available space in these partitions.
* Errors caused by scratched CDs, faulty cd-rom reader drives, or unsupported cd-rom readers.

Also

* Some antivirus software could interfect with the installation, temporany disable them in the installation process.

** The installer **
The installer totally removes the game from your system, so it doesn't matter what type of game do you have. (it preserves your savegames)

You don't need to have installed Uru Ages Beyond Myst to install the expansion pack, simply put the game cd when it asks for it. It will display an message box, that it couldn't find the game, and that it is going to install it in the default path. (new default path is "c:\program files\ubi soft\cyan worlds\uru - to d'ni").

So the installer does this:
* First it Searches a previus installation of the game, if It can't find it, it installs it to default path, or lets the user to select one.
* 2nd It Checks that the user inserted an original and legitimate game cd of Uru Ages Beyond Myst, if the check fails then a pop pup error message appears, if not the install continues.
* 3th It Checks if the CD is the (spanish/italian/english) version, and if it is true then tell to the poor user that is not going able to play the game in these languages.
* 4th It Checks available disk space. (if not error)
* 5th If there is something in the folder, then It deletes all, but not the sav folder.
* 6th It Does a complete install of the game from the CD.
* 7th Now it calls to RRpatch to apply a patch over the installation.
* 9th Then when the patch has been applyed, it calls to Urusetup to uncompress all the sounds.
* 10th Finally it asks the user to read the readme and/or create a shortcut.

Well the installer does more things beetween these main steeps.
Some users are stuck in the safedisc protection check, others are stuck in the prime installation process, and others are stuck in the patching process.

I have installed the expansion pack now, about 5 times, without any error, in different hardware/software configurations.

Then, if one of the steps fails, the installation fails, and your game goes to the garbage... ummm...

Ok, everybody with problems, please try the alternate installation method:

*** 1st, delete everything that you have in your system related to one of your previus Uru installations, or copy it to a backup folder.

*** 2nd, Put the game CD, and click no/exit, that you don't want to install the game.

*** 3th, Click on the Urutodni.exe file and follow all instructions. Select any path, the installer will work very well without the old game installed, it will install it from the cd.

And finally if you are still having any problems, please contact with Ubi, support.ubi.com and tell them your problems, in the meantime, i will try to see if there is a way to reproduce one of these errors in my system, and find a way to fix this.

Please post all information of your system specifications, and in the exact step where the installer fails.

almol,

Thanks for your help and hints, but that still didnâ´t work for me. Iâ´ve just tried my 3rd CD-ROM drive (now a CD-RW -> HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8481B , manufactered June/2002).
The same error "CD IS NOT VALID" appeared. I swear to you I canâ´t stand seeing this message after 24 hours!

I made a comment in this thread I donâ´t know if you read, so Iâ´ll repeat:
. Why did URU get installed from my CD-ROM drive and can be started from the same drive, but this error message pops up with UruToDni App?
Donâ´t you think XP1 may have a different version of Safedisc? If it were the same, the installation shouldnâ´t have this problem, since itâ´s the same drive.
I still think that something is wrong here.

Greetings...

Try cleaning your cd. If you go to most places that sell dvds or cds, they will sell a device where you can clean your cds or dvds, try it.
