You can add my Artec HDI-G40B to that list. Swapped it with my office Sony DVD, no problem.

With my Artec in my office machine, same 'insert correct CD' message appears, and then WIN XP completely loses my DVD drive, cured on re-boot. Oddly, CS-CZ also identifies my Artec DVD as being 'CD protection software detected' and won't run. Disabling the drive cures the problem. Very odd how everybody is picking on certain DVD drives.

Finally, my crashes to desktop and reboots seem to have been cured by softening my memory timings. One of my three sticks was a CAS 3 stick, the others CAS 2.5. The Bios was running everything at CAS 2.5. I adjusted all to 3.0, and all seems OK. I can't think that reducing your memory performance slightly will have that big an impact on the game Happy

Yes why couldn't have Crytek or Ubisoft put the DVD-Drive compatibility list on the game?
Now I am going to have to bloody fork out for a new DVD-Rive!
Cheers

I have the same drive as you and after leaving the DVD in the drive for 10 minutes (literally) as it tried to read it, eventually the install menu came up.

So stick the DVD in your drive and leave it for 10 minutes - it's worth a try.

ForthRight.

So there goes the only way to get the game to work thanks. When is the fix coming? You do realise that you(ubi) are now knowingly selling faulty goods (as you dont lable the game as not working with specific, seems like most, dvd drives, infact you state on the box it does). In the UK that is illegal. Fix it fast.

Demigod, i have that exact same drive, I installed / played the game with no problems at all. The drive is set as secondary master on my pc, with the standard retail firmware version.

Mines master, or it was. I just tried it as slave and same problem. Its not faulty I only got it a month ago. Iâ'm on win2000 you?

Sorry if any offence is taken from my above comments I was just a bit annoyed thatâ's all.

Iâ'm installing it by copying all the files to the hard drive; I just hope it runs when itâ's done.

I have the above LG dvd drive, and tried this trick suggested in another thread.

If you leave the dvd in the drive for about 5 minutes the game eventuallly loads. Not sure if this trick works on the other makes of dvd-rom drives. Worth a try though. Your need some patience though, but it does work.

LG GDR-8161B:
The game is incompatible with this DVD drive.

Ok, thanks to those who notified me (and probably several others probably) about this issue. True, they should have put a warning or a sign somewhere but the majority of people wouldn't have had a problem.

Now the disc spun and whirred and clicked in my DVD Drive before it sprung into action and decided that it wanted to install. I have used the No CD patch and it works a charm. Now I have a dilemma. A moral one. Ooo.

Considering UBI have jerked me around enough for one day (tried everything to get it to install) I think i'll speak my mind.

Seeing as I haven't registered for multiplayer yet and there's no judging how the new patches will react to the No Cd Crack do I...

a) Play the single game and refund my Game pointing the finger at the money grabbing Ubi.

b) Register and play multiplayer and hope the DVD Drive works when I want to add an update or tinker about with the settings.

It's beyond me this has flown by a lot of people and many casual gamers will take this product home only to be scratching their heads later.

Regards,

Jan Hokum.

Strangly - I fail to see anyone from ubi-soft commenting on the legality of releasing a product which falsly advertises a system requirement.

personally, i would like to hear:

1: what possible reason they could give for this gross error of judgment.

2: exactly when this problem will be fixed.

3: how they think this will reflect on them as a company.

4: why they punish legitimate buyers

5: why i should buy, or encourage others to buy a ubisoft product.

6: how they intend to placate me

lack of response speaks for itself!
