Q. Why is it when i try and enter my serial number, as it is being processed i get timed out ?
A. This may be cause due to a firewall or a privacy service. Comletely close the process or delete them alltogether and then try entering your serial again.

Q. Invalid CD-Key
A. This can be due to human error but also ubisoft. try several times to insert the correct key, dont forget about caps.

Q. how do i install/enable PB (Punkbuster)
A. first you must have the v1 patch installed, once so open the multiplayer screen so you are connected to ubisoft then where you can see all the servers listed, there is a punk buster check box at the bottom on the right. This needs to be checked for any servers which have PB enabled.

Q. How do i put colour throughout my name when playing online
A. When entering your name place a $ character then a number 1-9. Each number is a different character.
$0 (Black)
$1 (White)
$2 (Blue)
$3 (Green)
$4 (Red)
$5 (Light blue)
$6 (yellow)
$7 (Pink)
$8 (Orange)
$9 (Grey)

A. If it is plugged in to a USB port change it over, the USB port may be causing a conflict

A. It is on the back of the manual, it is a little sticker you will find at the bottom.

A. Yes, type this following command in console when you want to save "\save_game 1" . To load it, in console type "\load_game 1" . The number 1 represents the save name.

A. Try changing the video mode to OpenGL. To do this go to your far cry directory, open the file system.cfg. Find the line r_driver = direct3d9. Where it says Direct3d9 put OpenGL. Also another point you might wanna check up on is that you have the latest drivers installed for your graphics card. For nvidia cards they must have the latest forceware drivers installed. www.nvidia.com for driver information.

U also forgot to answar: "Please insert correct CD-ROM". When using DVD's and have the newest MB drivers, chipset drivers, firmware for DVD drive, no emulating software or drives.

What kind of answer is that??? When I plunked down my 45 bucks I was not warned about the game not working with my ATI card. This is nonsense!!

I have downloaded the 4.3 catalyst drivers and they seem to have fixed the bugs. I hope this solves the problem.

It works fine with ATI cards, I have one myself, you just need the right drivers. Try 3.9 catalyst, or third party drivers.

When playing Far Cry, I get a descent 30fps at Medium Detail. But whenever I reverse a vehicle, a helicopter flies on screen, or I spin the view around too fast, the game freezes for 15 seconds/plays for half a second/freezes for 15 seconds/and so on until I re-start it. Anyone else have this problem and fix it?

Post your specs, sounds like a RAM shortage and yer swapfile is being accessed alot....

Know how I corrected it?

Since I have Windows XP, and hat tip to the link from MSDN Error 1311, I went to:

Control Panel/
Administrative Tools/
Local Security Policy/
Devices: Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on user only

Set that setting to "Disabled"

REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER!

Made everything right as rain and I was able to install FarCry.

i'm gonna ask you "why the **** won't this game start on my pc" though. the dvd drive just won't read the bugger. i have no nero or clode cd and the likes of. where's the ****ing problem?

Have you tryed it in another DVD drive? Your current DVD drive may have a problem with the copy protection on the Far Cry DVD.

I get this too. I can't use catalyst 4.3s because then the game hard locks so I am using 3.7s. Its not a swap issue because the hdd is inactive during these lockups.

Specs:
1800+ on an nForce2 motherboard
Radeon 8500LE not overclocked
512MB Ram

Any ideas?

Is there a way to make the OpenGL rendering mode permanent? I'm really tired of always editing the system.cfg file before I start the game. Far Cry always changes it back to Direct3D9 even if I make system.cfg file as read-only.

Or... how can you just simply enable the rendering mode option in Far Cry Configurator? A .lua file you edit or what?

You have to edit once in FarCry folder and under Profiles/Players -- there is "playername"_system.cfg for each User - change it and play

yah...my game was working fine yesterday, now when I start it , it shows the pic of *jack and val* then it shows a black screen then closes real fast...wtf?!?! It was running yesterday and the day before!
