Rayman is French, and France has their very own heritage when it comes to comic styles, humour, etc., just like Japan has its heritage.
By all means, draw inspiration from other countries and cultures, but first of all, I think it's important to stay true to yourself and your own heritage. Which is why Rayman should stay the way it is.

Come to think of it, if Rayman - a European idea - was to be animated in Japan it'd look more like Alfred J Kwak than say Lucky Star. I know of a number of European comics being made into cartoons in Japanese studios in the 80's and 90's, and none of them had giant gemstone eyes and brightly coloured hair.

The Japanese animators are masters of keeping the essence and the style of the series they animate. I think if a Rayman-cartoon was being made in Japan, the style wouldn't change much.
It's the idea of an animu-styled Rayman I dislike.

Capcom is good company( I met the head of capcom haha)
Sega is picking up there game now sonic unleashed looks great.
One more thing the donkey games are still good king of swing is fun and jungle beat was really fun.
