I think there are three gods in Rayman’s world:
1: Polokus 2: The Leptys 3: Jano Each god has a title: 1: The Spirit of the world 2: The Father of the Knaaren 3: The Guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams Each god has their own domain: 1: The Glade of Dreams 2: The strange place full of eyes on stalks that we saw at the end of Rayman 3 3: The Cave of Bad Dreams Each god has their own race: 1: Teensies 2: Knaaren 3: The mini-Jano creatures seen in the Cave of Bad Dreams The Heart of the World was there at the dawn of time, and it was then that it created the three gods. Each god had his own sceptre: Polokus’ sceptre is next to the Grand Minimus’ throne at the end of the Fairy Council in Rayman 3. The Leptys’s sceptre is kept by Gumsi, High King of the Knaaren. Jano’s skull-topped sceptre contains the Elixir of Life, and he carries it with him at all times. Each of these three sceptres has a powerful bond with its own god, and if someone has a sceptre, they can invoke, gain the powers of, and effectively merge themselves with that god. If somebody got all three sceptres and invoked the three gods at the same time, they would gain the ultimate power. |

The guardian of the cave of bad dreams isn't a god... he's guarding the place we're the nightmares of polokus are being held.
But the red guy in the Game of the Gods multiplayer minigame in Rayman Revolution clearly represents Jano!

I have to agree to Joshua on this. I don't think Jano is a god. He's assigned by Polokus to guard his nightmares, thus he is a lower form than a god.

Indeed, Jano doesn't really seem a god. He could just be... well, like Josh and Spane said, a monster, assigned by Polokus to guard his nightmares.
By the way, this gives me an idea... maybe we could try to write down the 'history' and culture of Rayman's world? Like the story about the Knaaren chasing away the teensies from the ruins ( painted on walls in tDotK ) and what Mr. Dark really is ( was he maybe a dark god banished from Rayman 1's universe, so the Great Protoon - the nice god - could rule the world with its harmony? )... |

ya tht would be cool :] Unbelievably stupid, Unmistakeably emo. Come jion us on PC here : http://www.raymanpc.com/forum/index.php |

But if Jano isn't a god, then what the hell is he doing in the Game of the Gods minigame? And just because he is subservient to Polokus doesn't mean he's not a god, e.g, all the dozens of gods in Greek mythology are subservient to Zeus.

I think it's just coinsidence. That it's called "Game of the Gods" doesn't have to say that every single statue standing there could be a god. It can just as well have been that the developers liked the name, and simply took it.
Whatever the developers thought, Jano seems to have been there at the dawn of time. In the game of the gods, player 1 is Polokus, Player 2 is Leptys and the computer-controlled enemy is Jano. Just my opinion, and I think the trinity of Polokus, Leptys and Jano makes more sense than Polokus and Leptys in a two-god system. And Jano has a hat identical to Polokus's hat, so they could be members of the same order or something...

Here's my theory, which I have had for quite a while.
There are three named gods in Rayman's universe, but many that are unnamed (remember, Polokus is visiting them for the majority of R2). The named gods are Polokus, who rules the Glade of Dreams; the Leptys, the patron god of the Knaaren and whose connection to Polokus is unknown; and the Guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams (who I call Eig based on R2 but everybody else calls Jano based on R3), who rules the Cave of Bad Dreams. True, Eig guards Polokus' bad dreams, but that doesn't mean he isn't a god. For all we know, Leptys guards the Knaaren for Polokus. I see the Cave of Bad Dreams as an opposite of the Glade of Dreams (note, both has a guy wearing a top hat and both use terms relating to dreams). I also believe that the guardians of the sanctuaries are not gods. This is how they are separated from Eig. Pardon for basing my beliefs on aesthetics only, but Eig has a top hat and the guardians don't. I'm not sure how the Leptys looks (though I believe it to resemble that eagle statue), but because I see the hat as a connection to Polokus and the Leptys is as of yet unconnected I see no problem in that. I'd continue, but I'm getting a bit bored of this and it would take hours anyway. Bar, however, really hits the nail; I never really thought the Knaarens chased the Teensies as opposed to just terrorized them, but that's an awesome theory. My original post count is 1774 + Whatever it says below |

Rayman M wasn't meant to be canon anyways.
Ly probably doesn't have a palace (in Rayman Revolution, she just has a house near a tree). Razorbeard wouldn't return to Rayman in a competition so why is he there in the first place? Rayman M/Arena isn't really a Canon meant game, it was made just for fun really, the levels they had didn't really mean anything in the Rayman universe. |

Maybe Jano guards Polokus's nightmares, Polokus guards the Leptys's nightmares(Knaaren) and the Leptys guards Jano's nightmares?

aeojrtfao: Be nice. I kind of like spiraldoor.
My theory is that Polokus is the one god of Rayman's world. The Leptys is a foriegn god, not native to Rayman's planet at all. Polokus once had a nightmare of perhaps himself (why Jano has the same hat and similar arms) and Jano, being a nightmare himself, gaurds Polokus's bad dreams. There is no reference to him being a god. At all.
Exactly what I was thinking Kelvin. |
If Jano is just a nightmare, wouldn't he be inclined to...sorta...let Polokus's nightmares loose on the Glade so he could rule it?
And another thing: If Jano guards Polokus's Nightmares, who guards the Leptys's nightmares? |

Who ever said Leptys is Polokus' twin brother? |
Who said that the nightmares of the leptys come true ?
It seems that in Rayman's world, gods create by dreaming...
![]() |
Only Polokus does. There's not enough information about Leptys to officially say it dreams to make things come true. All we know is that Leptys is the god of the night, it's the creator of the Knaaren, and by Knaaren statures, it resembles a giant eagle. This information is most probably all we'll ever know about it. So don't jump into conclusions that fast.

And the Leptys doesn't "chose sides" and is basically just a power that can be "evoked". Because first it's with the knarren, and gives power to Rayman. Then it betrays both when Reflux evoked it.
