New guy here' And am wondering about the procedure for adding some of the great skins I've found to the aircraft.
On opening my Lomac folders can find no folders pertaining to the skins or where to place new ones, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Install them using LoMan and they will automatically be placed in the correct lockon folder.
Note that an added skin will replace one of the default skins for that aircraft. Not a big problem really as LoMan allows skins etc to be added / removed with a single click.......

Ok found and installed Loman 2.1 and installed two skins supposedly successfully, but on hitting the fly key found the a/c still had the default skins applyed,Now I found that Loman seems to only work with the winrar zip unopened,If I open it to bring up all the files within it does nothing,is this correct? or am I doing it wrong?

Yes LOMAN expects file in its addon folder to be .ZIP files. Not sure if it can handle .RAR also, all the files I have ever used have all been .ZIP files.

Once you had successfully loaded the skins you need to open your mission in the Mission Editor, choose your aircraft, click on PAYLOAD, click on COLOUR SCHEME then select through the schemes to see what they look like. Some schemes are only slightly different to others, make sure you watch the picture of your aircraft to see what has changed, might only be a squadron badge / tail code.

I also change the onboard number (ONBOARD #), boring always flying number 01. This is on tail of US jets, nose of Russian jets, elsewhere on other countries.

I'm still trying to find out how to add workable aircraft to my missions, instead of being a spectator? Can't seem to figure that one out!

I trying to build my own senario here. Any suggestions in this area?

Thanks

If you do not have a player aircraft at the start of the mission that you make in the Mission Editor (ME), then you will be a spectator watching one of the AI aircraft.

This might occur because:-

a) there is no player aircraft at all in the mission.

b) you have a player aircraft in the mission, but you have set the time of its appearance (ETA) to later on in the mission.

c) you have a player aircraft in the mission, but you have set it to take off from the runway and one or more AI aircraft are set to take off from the same runway. So your player aircraft won't spawn into existence until the AI have taken off and have flown a short distance from the airbase.

The only aircraft that the player can fly are Su-25, MiG-29, Su-27, Su-33, F-15, A-10. They are coloured yellow instead of grey on the aircraft TYPE selection in the Mission Editor.
But those aircraft types can also be AI if you want, so you need to set the SKILL of the aircraft to be PLAYER. If you set it to AVERAGE, GOOD, HIGH, EXCELLENT, RANDOM then Lockon thinks you want that aircraft to be an AI aircraft.

I have seen some missions made by Lockon Community members that start with a minute or two of AI - AI action with you as a spectator to set the scene, and only then does your player aircraft spawn and off you go to take revenge. Usually the readme file accompanying the mission will warn you that the mission is of this style.

Yep, that was absolutely it Radar dude! That small link with the Mission Editor is what cracked it open for me. Now it's all down hill, and I'm building missions now.

Biggest thing at this point is for me to learn all the russian military equipment & weapons so I can add realism.Don't really know what those all do yet.

I know one thing for sure, those anti-acft trucks are killers. I had to back off on that a tad. Plus I added a carrier group & destroyer in the gulf. Using A-10's and F-15's.

Tough senario there!

But I sure want to thank you for posting those three links on mission building.

Got a good friend living there in the London area. He's also a LOMAC Attack Fan...Thanks Mate.

No worries udornvet, glad to help.

I will warn you that messing with the Mission Editor can be very addictive. Whole evenings will dissapear, I speak from experience Wink

The ME can be a bit squirrelly sometimes to make it do exactly what you want, so feel free to come back with any more questions. Whatever problem you hit, pretty sure one of us old hands will have hit it already....

...and finally, I should point out that these UBI forums are terrific as a 1st point of contact with the Community, but can be a little quiet. Many folks use the Forums at www.LockonFiles.com nowadays. You have to register, but its pretty laid back over there and it is probably the premier English language Lockon site for Downloads of skins/missions/tweaks/addons etc.
The other port of call is the Lockon Developers forums at http://forums.eagle.ru/index.php

You got that right...It's loads of fun building those senarios then hitting that, FLY button and watching it all come to life..Simply fascinating!

Great program, and it allows the general users to get involved and be creative. Once you break open the secrets.

Good flying!
