Hello all, first time posting in the lomac forums as I am now the proud owner of my first jet combat sim. As you may imagine I am as green as they come and I am in serious need of help.
To start, I have been all over the net looking for a basic “beginners” profile for my new X-52. Sadly I have been unable to find anything; not even here or the saitek forums. I understand that I should make my own profile which is what I have been trying to do but with little to no knowledge of how to even fly a jet fighter you can bet I don’t have a clue as to what even needs to be mapped. If anyone here would give me some help with what basic commands such as what is a must to have mapped to your stick I would be most grateful. Another thing I need help on is how to map the views to my X-52’s pov hat switch (I think that’s what it’s called anyway). Again, Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |

Click sig, and visit the "flight hardware set up page".
I never owned an X52- but I did have 3 X45's. That page will help you set up the basics, as well as provide some guidance about how to get organized, and start programming. You'll want to have 3 modes with specific purposes contained within. A2A Navigation (this would include landing, taxiing, refueling, etc.) A2G There are a LOT of critical commands. Too many to type. But a few examples for you and some advice. Print out all the key commands, and lay them out. Start with assigning the 3 modes above however you wish- I always had NAV mode in the middle.. Buttons- start with the common controls that are used in all modes. Speedbrakes Trim Flaps Your "head" movement. (I won't get into it here- but take heed about what I say about "track IR" on my site.) THINK about how you want these controls laid out- think about how a commnad mapped will "flow" with other stick commands. Example: I recommend mapping the pinkie switch to "shift" This allows you to map several variants to a single button or HAT- such as the ministick. Map out the keys to "TDC-up,down,left,right" to the ministick. In order to move the radar scan cone- you use the SAME COMMANDS, but with the shift key. Easy. Ministick alone- TDC. Pinkie & ministick- radar scan cone Two critical, related commands simply laid out and easy to use. My point is-if you were to map "shift" to something on your throttle- it would be awkward/ almost impossible to use Shift and the ministick with one hand, right? When you are sure about the command placement on the stick- map it. SST used to map it in all 3 modes by default- you'll need to verify this. Lastly- if you find that something is not working right- either functionally or it's uncomfortable, awkward, whatever-- Clear it- and do something different! This will be difficult enough to memorize/ get used to. Don't force something that doesn't work. You WILL make many changes before you are happy. Get used to this idea, and don't get frustrated about it. |

Thanks for the help. The only thing I'm still stuck on is how to program the hat switch for looking around the cockpit.

Well if your SST is anything like mine was- you simply click on the HAT or button that you want,
select the direction and map it to the corresponding key. Hopefully the SST you have is not dramatically different than what I'm showing you here. If it is- someone else will have to post screenshots. Even if the look is different- I bet the procedure is virtually the same. |

hey dude, as a fellow noob with a x52 i can offer a little help here with your pov1 hat.
the way i did it was using sst tools, select the pov 1 (hat). right click it(i think) and it should have the option for "buttons" or "axis". Select buttons. once you have selected "buttons", the pov slot should expand from 1 slot, to 8 slots. then simply edit each one of those slots for your view. example: pov1(up)=2 pov1(right)=6 those are just examples, i used "2" to look up because i like my view control inverted when doing it manually. just remember to map "5" onto one of the other hats to re-center your view, because you WILL get disoriented. FYI track ir recently had a price drop, and it makes flying so much better. I strongly suggest you look into it, because the game is way too hard without it. hope this makes sense for you. |

thanks for the help guys and yes I will be looking into the track ir when i get the money.
I was hoping there was a way to make the hat switch emulate the mouse. I see the option in the sst but it is grayed out. |
