I know it is a stupid question, but please help.
When I have locked target and want to change it to another I press ` key, but target do not switch to another. I changed key to . but still there is no reaction. Do I need to unlock the target? I tried, but that also had no effect. Smash

PS Is there a good online step by step LOMAC game guide?

This only works on "easy radar" (red box)

-or-

on ground targets that have been specifically marked as such in the mission editor. (HUD diamond)

What do you mean "slew" the target? If you mean select- well... yes some can.

In lock on the HUD diamonds represent ground forces laising a target for you. This can be applicable in real combat, but I think more likely in smaller precision strikes, special forces operations.

In a large scale theatre- say Gulf War 1- The methods used to select, lock and engage targets are more likely-

...onboard the attacking platform itself ground radar, IR sensor pods, laising. Think MudHen, Hornet, Tornados

.. remotely collected by a combination of Intel sources- ground, spy flights, satellites ahead of time, then continually updated & managed from an AWACS(for example) in basically real time.

Ok I launch short range AA missle to target 1 then press ENTER and target indicator jumps to target 2. Then I lounch long range AA missile, I try to switch to target 3, but I can't. Why? I can't get back to short range AA's also. What is happening. I really need some sort of game guide. I tried A 10 mission 1. You can't seriously destroy all ground targets with that munition ammount, and if i could how to withstand ground to air and mig attacks. Impossible, inpassable game.

Quit whining. Angry

What plane are you flying? What weapons are loaded onto it? Are you flying the quick start mission? Are you using "easy radar"? Are you equipped to learn properly? Do you have a programmable stick or are you using the keyboard? (If you say keyboard- you might as well go beat your head against the wall.)If you have a stick- is it configured, calibrated, and tuned so the planes can be smoothly controlled? Have you bothered to learn basic Navigation, flight, radar, warning, and weapons systems before trying to fight?

This is a SIMULATION. That is- it SIMULATES the complexities of real aircraft. This is not a console game.

No one else has been able to start & master LOCK ON in a few minutes. Why do you think YOU can? Maybe if a you spent a few minutes studying & reading you might figure a few things out.

First of all, calm down Wink
As Konkussion said, Lockon is no console game, it is a serious Sim and can take several weeks of play to get even slightly competent at the basics. My advice would be to pick one aircraft - the A-10 is a forgiving fun aircraft to start with. Spend some time (I spent 6 months) flying it until you can make it do whatever you want and you are as familiar with its handling and its weapon systems as you can be.

Have you been told to destroy ALL ground targets? I don't think you have. You mentioned A-10 mission 1 by which I assume you mean the A10A_Defensive_CAS mission.
In this mission, you are tasked to assist friendly German armour and ensure their survival by destroying an advancing column of Russian armour. There are 8 vehicles in this column. The payload that you and your wingman are carrying is more than enough to destroy that column.
Many missions have other enemy and friendly units. As the military say "You should stay on mission" by which they mean don't go off killing stuff you weren't told to.

If you meant Mission 1 of the A-10 campaign, my statements above still stand, you should only kill what you have been tasked to kill (plus obviously any SAM/AAA units that are a direct threat to you).

As for dodging enemy missiles, well that is a skill that takes some acquiring. A good start would be to watch a couple of training video's made by a guy called IronHand (the guru of Lockon training) where he shows some techniques of SAM dodging.

http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/supad.htm

Look for a video called Strela Hunt and another one called Outmanouevring SAM's.

Hope this helps...
