Not sure if this is just limited to the Saitek Cyborg family or if it extends to other makes/models as well.
My stick and the force feedback in game were conflicting to the point that I had no trim control at all. The Fix\Work Around: Disable Force Feedback in the Producer.cfg file. Find it here: ...\Lock On\Config\producer.cfg What to do: Change the TRUE flag to FALSE This solved my problem, and I have the feeling that any other Saitek users with problems will find that it may work for them also. Since there seems to be quite a few people who still need this, it really does need to be a sticky!

is it possible these problems could affect the NON force feedback models of FF joysticks? ie could it affect the control of a top gun afterburner II non FF if its not being detected properly?
|

Yes. I have a non-FF stick and I couldn't do a thing with it until I disabled the FF in the producer file. At first I thought that this was only a Saitek problem, but then was reading about Logitech, MS and Thrustmaster. CH seems either to be alright or the owners just don't report any trouble. Anyway, I firmly believe that this is a global issue with the FF coding.

After the patch 1.02 - i am totally happy how my Saitek Cyborg 3D works with force feedback and trimmers!
Except for one thing: i found that the planes (especially Su-line) are way too twitchy on the pitch axis. But here's the cure: (i found it on russian lock on forum) - if you have this problem (jerky pitch) - go to Lock On folder - Config folder - file joyrange.cfg, open it with Notepad and change 400 to at least 1000. (I tried to set even 2000, but got a real FPS hit). Now the jerkiness decreased dramatically, and i have pleasure flying! |

I just bought and set up a Logitech Wingman Force 3D stick.
Now when I play all the planes behave differently and are almost impossible to control. With the stick central, the A10 nosedives, the Frogfoot climbs, the F15 rolls to the right and dives and the SU27 rolls slightly to the lef and climbs. It's incredibly annoying and almost impossible to control the aircraft enough to lock a target or make a shot I downloaded the latest drivers for the joystick and disabled Force FeedBack but it's still the same How's this for weird - flying the F15, when it's banking right and falling out of the sky, if you select the cannon the plane rights itself - deselect it and it nose-dives again. Any ideas?? [This message was edited by Snipe_2020 on Fri July 23 2004 at 01:12 PM.] |

I have the Logitech Wingman Strike Force 3D as well. Have tried the above fixes with no luck.
I purchased this stick after trying my MS FF2 stick, which had problems in this game, and then reading that MS will not provide XP drivers. Tried fresh install, loaded all patches, went over all readme files, and now I've tried out the forum fixes. Where do I go from here? Is the input coding that bad? SYSTEM: AMD 3000+, 1024MHz XMS, ASUS A7N8X Delux, Two 36GHz Raptors striped, Ti 4600 (new 6800 Ultra has not arrived), SB Audigy, 510W PSU |

Whoa, DUDE!!
I've been grappling with the same problem! (See "Aircraft Nose Down in Flight" on the Community Help topics page). No trim at all, even when mapped. I have a Saitek P2500 Rumble pad. I'll try your suggestion and see what happens... |

REALLY dumb question.... What the heck do I do if I don't have a " producer.cfg " file ? I have nosed through every cfg file and don't see anything that looks like what is being described. It's really frustrating trying to fly with a cyborg evo that only lets me go up, down, left and right.

Nothing helps me with my Cyborg 3D Gold.
Tried Disable Force Feedback in the Producer.cfg file – did not help. Changed joyrange.cfg, to 1000 – did not help. What is going on? Is there any joystick which does not produce the problem with oscillation? Regards, Forgotten War Home Page "The best fighters I met in combat were the American P-51 Mustang and Russian Yak-9U. Both of those types obviously exceeded all Bf109 variants in performance, including the 'K'. The Mustang was unmatched in altitude performance, while the Yak-9U was champion in rate of climb and maneuverability." - Walter Wolfrum (137 victories) |

I gotta tell you guys I want to love this game so much but man it's just down right terrible. Don't get me wrong the graphics are off the hook and the potential for being the best FLIGHT COMBAT sim on the market is there. But the problems with getting the joysticks to work, the constant trimming of the plane, graphic glitches are just too frustrating. I'm an experienced game player and flight sims are my fortay but this one is JUST TOOO frustrating. For those of you who think I'm lying heres one of my problems. You are trying to fly the A10 moving MUD and you are trying to line up a MAV on a target and the airplane keeps wanting to fly up (NO! ALT HOLD IS NOT ON). Then you try to zoom the mfd and sometimes it zooms and sometimes it doesn't. WTF, man I like a tough sim but I bet if real A10 pilots point the nose at a target chances are it's gonna stay pointed long enough to lock the darn target and get off the missle. I've tried TRIMMING, holding the nose down etc and it's just unreal trying to fly, lock and pickle the friggin bomb. I decided to let the stick go and see how high the nose would go? It did a full loop. COME GUYS lets get an auto trim button or something. I like realism but that's a bit over the top(no pun intended....) As the game is I believe it's got to come off the HD to make room for the old trusty Falcon 4.0. I jsut can't get any enjoyment out of it with the way it is now. I believe the flight control problems are a bug because sometimes the thing is just perfect and you point doen it stays down. A few minutes later and it's way out if trim--- OH well maybe the next LOMAC with the Dynamic campaign engine will be a better simulator.

I have a question which I want to post, but can't find a place to enter it. Logotech extreme 3d pro or microsoft sidewinder joystick, no mattewr how I configure either, the pitch polarities are reversed.....pull bavk-a/c goes down, push forward-a/c goes up! ***
|

quote:Thats an unusual problem but you should check the game OPTIONS/INPUT screen. Choose your JS on the DEVICE box and then choose AXES instead of button. You'll see the different AXIS options, including PITCH. There is an INVERT button on the lower right that should reverse the direction of the Pitch inputs. Let us know if your Pitch looked like the above curve or if it was the opposite way. |
