Is there anywhere in this forum where one can go to get instructions on how to actually build or construct one of these missions? This seems to be my challenge at this point.

Where should it all begin once you open LOMAC? The Mission Editor??

I see a web link with many savable .mis files there, but the two that I've tried seem to let you be a watcher or visitor. Can't do a thing with them...!

Sure would like to crack this problem. I see no clear systematic method in which to go through the mission builder & edit pages to build my own senario, add acft and get past that blasted map page. It's all guess, and hit & miss.

Would one of you more knowledgable ones care to post that here, for this old USAF F-4 Crew Chief

I would very much appreciate it. My brains hurt!

I've been fumbling my way around in the editing, adding coalitions, and good guys & bad guys on the map and making sure I'm saving my actions.

Major problem I see here is adding the different aircraft & activating them so I can control them...As it is now all I have when I hit "FLY" is I'm just a spectator! I have no control of the plane. I am saving these as .mis files too BTW.

What am I missing? Can the GURU's here in the group help me out a bit? I feel I'm getting close.

Thanks

Just a quick note...I have to leave the house...

Go to the subject, "adding skins" radar guy has some great links which talked me right through it! It is working. I pulled up the sim and I have a good acft...It all about selecting the mission in the proper order, select time, coalitions, the you pilots and stick them on the map. Then you can edit everything...Great stuff!

Thanks

If you do not have a player aircraft at the start of the mission that you make in the Mission Editor (ME), then you will be a spectator watching one of the AI aircraft.

This might occur because:-

a) there is no player aircraft at all in the mission.

b) you have a player aircraft in the mission, but you have set the time of its appearance (ETA) to later on in the mission.

c) you have a player aircraft in the mission, but you have set it to take off from the runway and one or more AI aircraft are set to take off from the same runway. So your player aircraft won't spawn into existence until the AI have taken off and have flown a short distance from the airbase.

The only aircraft that the player can fly are Su-25, MiG-29, Su-27, Su-33, F-15, A-10. They are coloured yellow instead of grey on the aircraft TYPE selection in the Mission Editor.
But those aircraft types can also be AI if you want, so you need to set the SKILL of the aircraft to be PLAYER. If you set it to AVERAGE, GOOD, HIGH, EXCELLENT, RANDOM then Lockon thinks you want that aircraft to be an AI aircraft.

I have seen some missions made by Lockon Community members that start with a minute or two of AI - AI action with you as a spectator to set the scene, and only then does your player aircraft spawn and off you go to take revenge. Usually the readme file accompanying the mission will warn you that the mission is of this style.

Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum....
