Help needed, I purchased LOck on Gold and all works fine including Flaming Cliffs until I apply the patch 1.12a then starforce won't let me get in the game because it stops on the starforce screen and won't pass the disc check. I contacted Evolved about possible faulty disc, they have since sent two seperate discs and they both have the same errors. How can i turn starforce off or is there another way.

Any support is apreciated

Don't use that one!

If you have GOLD you get the CD patch. That leaves 2 of them.

If you have Euro version you get that patch.

If you have US version, you get that one.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if EVolved kept sending you faulty discs, but assuming they are not that stupid- UNINSTALL and delete the leftover folder in windows explorer. Use the starforce removal tool. Reboot.

Begin again from the top. Both gold CD's, in order. Then make DAMN sure you have the correct patch for your version of GOLD- again- CD patch for your region of the world. Reboot, Then take the disk OUT of the drive. You should only need to insert the CD once a week. If you still get the SF box telling you to enter a non existant serial number, then evolved has sent you one of the faulty disks AGAIN. Probably right out of the pile of returned CD's.

YOu can ditch the GOLD disk 2 and just buy the download version and patch that one.

Can you tell me what sight you get these patches from? I usually look on http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/
because they have a lot of stuff but they only have three patches, english, russian and Web, tried the web one but that stuffed it again because it did ask for the serial number that i didn't have because i didn't purchase it over the web. As far as region goes I purchased it during a stay in Dubai in the UAE and I'm in Australia, I bought it because I don't think you can purchase it here, I've never seen it in the shops. Regarding Evolved sending more faulty discs, that wouldn't surprise me either because I've contacted them again and they send out the same default email 'please send a copy of your receipt and I'll mail you out another one'. Their customer service is ****. If you could tell me the name of the site for this stuff that would be cool, thanks guys.

I have Lockon (version 1.02 I think)
And want to upgrade to Flaming Cliffs. I was just going to buy it online throught the Lockon.co.uk website....

My question is with regards to everything I've heard about starforce......
If I DL flaming cliffs what is the point of starforce? I wont have a CD for it to verify.

Will it cause my pc any grief? I'd rather not install or upgrade this sim if it's gonna cause me any problems with stability or general pc health.....

But I have been playing 1.02 on and off for so long now that I'd like to upgrade in order to try that SU-25T....

Suggestions/Help?

Thanks.

It will verify that you have a legal copy of the game - in your case the download version. The major disadvantage of the DL version is the limited number of re-installs it provides - 5. Look for the "Lock On v.1.1: Flaming Cliffs Activation Store Utility" and use that to avoid having to use re-installs except for major PC upgrades or new PCs.

A lot of the "old hands" among us have been flying Flaming Cliffs since April '05 with no Starforce problems what so ever.

There's a lot more to FC than just the SU-25T.
You'll like the upgrade.

Thanks for the info....

And now for another question....

Since I havent flown in a while, and since I didnt MOD my original install (didnt do too much to it really....I never DL'd Modman or anything of that nature).....

What files should I save or back up so that I dont have to reconfigure anything (ie: pilot/logbook/joystick/graphic/sound settings/etc) before doing this online download/install?

Also,

What is the difference between the Modman and Loman products
(I have noticed that Modman is at v 6'ish and Loman is at v5)

Thanks.

OK, just one more dumb question....for now....

I've noticed that some of the add ons (CAW, for example) state that it is only compatible with version 1.12"a"....I dont/cant see an "A" patch anywhere........just a patch that takes me from 1.1b straight to 1.12b

Will all these Crimean air war mods work if I have patched up to 1.12b

LOMAN / MODMAN
LOMAN was the original Mod manager and dates back to the earliest version of Lockon. When Flaming Cliffs was released, a patch to allow LOMAN to work with Flaming Cliffs was published. The author changed the name to MODMAN when he released a major upgrade that would work with both Lockon and Flaming Cliffs. As you seem to have FC, you shuld use MODMAN.

Patch v1.12a and v1.12b are identical except that "b" has a bit of Windows Vista stuff added. Most sites now only bother hosting patch v1.12b because of this.

CAW will be fine if you use it with FC patched to v1.12a or v1.12b Smile

The downloaded version provides 13 or 14 activations- not 5. (it was 5 at the launch)

thanks for all the help guys........

I've got the DL now.....will probably install it tonight. Hopefully no problems......if so, I'll figure it out when I get back from holidays.

Any files I should backup from v1.02 before going ahead with the install? (I suppose you're all gonna tell me to re-install lockon and patch it up to 1.02 again then install FC, right?.....lol) I hope not.

well, she's installed and working (i think...lol)

I cant seem to be able to trim the 25T for level flight though......I've got the autopilot (A) turned off....and the alt hold (H) turned off, but my joystick programming (and the keyboard (ctrl+; and Ctrl+.) commands dont seem to have any effect on trim and the beast just keeps trying to nose up, regardless of the loadout.

[edit:] Just read in docs folder/key commands file that there is no trim for the 25T. What a pig....I'm constantly fighting the stick, or cheating and using the level stabilizer ("h" key)

lol

Of course there is trim. Perhaps you have it improperly mapped. If your mapping trim as an axis- forget it - it won't work. It must be on a HAT. Also- there is no trim cancel function on that plane.

I have the trim mapped to my X45 stick hat #1 (ctrl+; and ctrl+.) if I recall correctly...as well as ctrl+T to reset, which as you stated doesnt work. But those functions dont work in game for some reason using either keyboard or joystick.

Will look into it further.

[edit:] just tried it again using only the keyboard input "ctrl ;" and "ctrl ." and nothing worked.....and yet that is what is mapped in the keyboard area for flight controls (the joystick area is blanked out so as to avoid confusion with the Saitek programming)

This is the case in any plane type.....and these commands used to work before the upgrade to 1.12b.

I suppose your all gonna tell me a fresh install from disk for LOMAC followed by patch 1.02 then upgrade to FC 1.1 and patch it to 1.12b. (since I didnt install FC on a fresh lomac, just upgraded the version of 1.02 I was playing...<grin>

Well,
I've set ALL the joystick settings back to default and re-started the sim....and then re-set up the stick as instructed (deleting all entries for the x45 so as to avoid conflicts).....still no trim functionality!!?!?! not even using keyboard....

I'm lost and going on holidays for 10 days, this will have to wait I guess.
