I have today ended a new campaign to the MiG-29Aa and MiG-29S.The problem is a ILS problem for the landing in the two asigned airfields, Gudauta and Sukhumi. The procedure is fine with the assigned NAV function 1 in LND and all work OK; but the problem the glide path is low and give the plane to crash some meters short of the Rwy threshold off of the touch down landing point. The plane is right configured for landing, flaps full down, gear down and aproach speed is the right one of 235 kph.The MiG-29 had a high landing speed and to performe this one manually is quite hard.Usually I wait to the last second, checking the altitude with the external view F2, then with the plane over of the Rwy jump to the cockpit, autopilot off and manually toch down, then P for the parachute and W for brakes. Some ideas about that? Lock-On version 1.02
I should try a lower landing speed, but I don't fly a lot with the Mig-29. By te way, where did you get those campains? I fly Lock-on 1.02 and I do not have those compains sadly enough:P
All OK now,the idea was to take manual control in the last meters(so with 100 m height)and then very softly with not more of 235 kph touchdown. The idea was to memorize the normal front position view of the Rwy and then checking in the last meters with the lights threrehold at the left side, a couple of seconds before the touchdown. Now , I find the landing of the MiG-29 a lot more easy to done in comparation with some stuff of FS2004...
Try doing a completely manual landing, it's a blast and a good feeling!
Dont forget that for the MiG-29, the airbrakes dont function when the landing gear is down (real life design feature to stop the brakes hitting the runway when you land). This adds to the challenge, you have to be very gentle with changing the throttle or you can end up too fast....
