Gentlemen, is there a command line switch for making Lomac use both cores of a Dual Core CPU - or does it do this automatically?
Sorry for asking, I couldn't find that piece of info using the search function, and thanks for all replies! AchimT |

No. Unlike some more modeern games, Lomac was not designed and written to utilise dual core. It derives no benefit from running on a dual core CPU, other than the small benefit that other cr*p can be running on the other core, eg. a media player to play some music whilst you fly.
In fact I have read posts that some folks have problems running Lomac on multi-core CPU's and have to do command line stuff to force it onto just one core so it runs correctly. Sorry Death, you lose! It was Professor Plum.... |

It's running fine for me, but I thought I could maybe get it to run even finer

The best advice ever:
If it's not broken, don't fix it! However, it's better to have the game running at one core instead of jumping from #1 to #2 all the time... That way you can have other stuff running on the other core so the 'Lomac-core' can focus just on running the game. To do this you need to go into the config and change the affinity mask. I don't know how to do it though, or if it's even possible with this game. I've read something about it in the IL-2 forums, but I can't find the topic. You can set the affinity (wich core should run it) of most windows programs by going into the taskmanager and under the processes tab, right click on the proces and you can set the affinity. Oleg: "Yeah my point as a man is quite strong, thanks for asking." |
