i know the more experienced people will think im a bit of a **** but who cares. I bought the latest version of lock on from a game store. the release date on the webby was during 2008 unless thats when they started sellnig it there its called lock on air combat simulator, whther this is old of new i have no idea but i have installed and looks pretty much the same as the screenies iv seen around for lomac, anyway i really wanna get playing with other people over the net, mainly aerobatics, more so than shooting people down. Well as far as i have got is installing it and oplaying single player games. But i dont wanna try anything that will screw up the game. EXPERIENCED people help please.

I'm sorry what exactly is it you want to do?

Does anything in your posession say "Lock on GOLD"? Did you get 2 CD's?

Start lock on, get to the main menu.

Look in the bottom right, and in one of the gauges there will LIKELY be a number.

Post that number here.


I'd guess that you DO NOT have the add on- "Flaming Cliffs" installed. If you do not know what that is- then you definitely do not have it.

If you want to fly online- you will need it. If you can find it on CD, fine. Otherwise- you will need to buy the downloaded version from

Once you have this add on installed- you download a free patch called 1.12b, and install that. You are now able to fly online in the main servers. These servers are found in a program called Hyperlobby. It's free, and can be found here http://hyperfighter.sk

NOTE: the in-game utility "ubi.com" is a waste of time & effort.

CAUTION: patch 1.12b comes in several forms. MAKE SURE you get the right one.

There is only 1 correct patch for owners of the downloaded FC.

The CD owners have to choose based on the brand they bought, and where they live.


Formation flying is one thing, but understand some things up front regarding the servers that host combat rooms:

Online flying has both written & understood standards of conduct- those standards are enforced. You need not be a pro to fly online. Please ask for help all you want. Mostly- you will get it. But no one is required to, and if it's busy- they probably won't have time.

If you can start your plane, get in the air,IFF (Identify friend or foe), then you are ready to start practicing online. An accidental teamkill will get you a minor admonishment. Repeated teamkilling could get you IP banned.


I'll suggest you get started reading about all this, and the game itself by clicking the link in my signature below. LOMAC requires a dedicated student- willing to invest a lot of time and some money to learn.

im in process of looking for a FC cd as im only 16 and dont own a credit card yet im unable to purchase the online version.

but it looks like il have to wait becasue non of the stores near me have the cd at all

The single CD version of FC was NEVER released in stores so you will not find it. It was only ever available to buy from a handful of specialist flight sim online stores, one or two in the USA and one or two in Europe, I think some of those no longer stock it as demand has gradually dropped.

The only release to stores was Lockon GOLD which contained 2 CD's, CD1 - the original Lockon (which you already have) and CD2 - FC.

I think you need to find a friend / relative who is prepared to buy it for you with their credit card and then you give them the cash. As Konkussion said - you can buy the D/L version or CD version. Myself, I always prefer a CD as I can see it and touch it, but I'm from an older generation
