quote: Your absolutely correct mate ... Well spotted. I have fixed the non-trackIR profile so that it corresponds with the command layout document. The new command string shouldnt jump to a view of a tank .. or at least it doesnt for me. Does your F7 key correspond to unlock padlock ?(clear view I think it is) The Meatrix - Red or Blue? |

Hi Precog,
Fantastic profile, and even more fantastic forum help! I've read the previous posts and have found nothing so far regarding this problem. I followed all of your instructions, and all of the profile works perfectly. However, I have found that my pitch axis is acting in a very strange way. In your default "response" setup for pitch, I find absolutely zero reaction of the aircraft to a change in pitch until I hit very close to the edge of the axis. For example, I tried to slowly, slowly slide the stick forward (in order to initiate a dive) but the airplane made no movement... just when I was about to hit the limit of the stick, suddenly the plane lurches forward very quickly (as though it was a correctly functioning stick that was slammed forward from the dead zone). Its as though my deadzone is up to near-max, even though it is currently set to only 3/4 of the very first tick. The line looks like a smooth sideways "S"... is there something I can change to fix this? By the way, the roll works perfectly. *EDIT* Ha! Nevermind, I'm a moron. I was flying a training mission and after taking control right off the bat I failed to toggle off the altitude stabilization. Thanks anyways though [This message was edited by Apulver on Thu June 24 2004 at 07:21 AM.] |

Hola,
Aux 0, Aux 1, Aux 2. Is it really worth mapping these, seem's to me having a constant "ON" key mapped is more trouble than it's worth. Also, I'm getting unwanted Hyper Zooming happening every once and awhile, all the lights on the X45 buttons flash when this happens. Using TrackIR profile. Horrido! |

quote: They are already mapped in the trackir profile (although not documented). Aux 1 (centre) is not mapped though and as you point out it needs to be centered so the Aux command isn't issued everytime you change modes or use the pinkie switch. The Meatrix - Red or Blue? |

Hi, I have a question about snap views and the X45.
I am using Shepski's LookJump.xml file for snap views in the SU-25. I have adapted Precog's profile so that the D button toggles snap views on and off and then hat 1 clicks between the snap views. Trouble is, the views won't stay put for the 4 diagonal directions of the hat. It's as if it's impossible to return the hat to neutral from diagonal without going through one of the horizontal directions first - and changing the snap view. I wondered if there were any tweak that could get around this. I realise this may not make a lot of sense if you don't use snap views - sorry |

I got my shiny new X45 yesterday and I'm very pleased with it, Definitly over my expectations, however, I can't get the software to work. When the installation proggy says I should connect the X45, and I do so, it just keeps on waiting forever, and never detects it, however it does work in-game and shows up in windows, so I'm pretty happy with it anyway.
But I'm just wondering, how much am I losing at not being able to use the software? I mean, the drivers seems ok, I can config and use the stick just through windows, but am I losing some cool features by not being able to use the real X45 config proggy? |

Try plugging into another usb port. Had a similar problem on my laptop, but chose another usb port and the problem went away.

I tried them all, but no luck
You think it could be because I got the "new" version of the stick? That would be strange though... [This message was edited by agarde on Sat July 03 2004 at 02:52 PM.] |

Hmmm, do you still have the software installed for your previous joystick? If so, uninstall, uninstall the Saitek software being sure to delete the Saitek folder under c:\programs\saitek and then try installing again. Be sure and unplug the usb cable from the X45 before installing the software again.
Aside from that, you may look to see if you have any device conflicts. Cujo If your not lead dog, the view never changes. |

Tried all that
The weird thing is that when I run the install proggy and I come to the part when I'm supposed to plug it in, and I do, then windows recognizes it and installs it, but the software hasn't got a clue of what's going on apparently... so I'm guessing that the software is supposed to "intercept" the stick install at this point, but for some reason it doesn't, so windows does it normal thing... Ah well... maybe it's my anti-virus proggy blocking the X45 proggy, gonna try and disable it. |

Dont mean to state the obvious, but did you download the latest from Saitek and download the one for your OS?

Oh, also, when you unistalled to reinstall, did you happen to run the Nuke USB utility?

OK maybe my snapviews/hat post wasn't very clear - judging by the zero replies
I'll have one more go and then I have another question about zoom. In a nutshell - I find snapviews to the instruments very useful. So I have downloaded Shepski's LookJump.xml file, made the necessary changes to the config file, and assigned toggle snapviews on/off to a button - fire D in my case. I find the snap views most useful in the Su-25 which of course lacks a HUD. If I toggle on snap views, keypad buttons 1-9 stop panning around the cockpit and instead snap to predefined and zoomed in views of the instruments in my cockpit. If I press keypad 2 for example it snaps to the weapons selection indicator - and when I release it, the view stays snapped to that indicator. The problem is when using hat1 to control the snap views. In ordinary mode hat1 pans continuously around the cockpit. In snap mode it snaps to the instruments, mimicing keypad 1-9. But the diagonals (1,3,7,9 on te keypad) will not "stick". So if I select the weapons panel with the hat, when I release the hat, instead of the view staying stuck to the weapons panel, it jumps to the bottom instrument cluster. I cannot get the hat to select a view from one of the diagonal axes and stick there. Selecting one of the horizontal / vertical axes - it works fine. This makes me think that this is just something about the way the hat on the X45 is engineered - maybe it's physically impossible for it to return from a diagnoal to neutral without passing through one of the horizontal / vertical positions first - and so changing the view. I just wondered whether anyone had any ideas on this although it may be a minority concern. Sorry about the long post cheers Mandella |

And as a supplementary - zoom (on the main rotary) doesn't seem to work in external views for me anymore.
I know zoom was broken on the rotary in 1.01 and I was using the widely suggested workaround of configuring the rotary with bands to mimic a * or / keypress - which worked fine. The thing is in 1.02 my rotary 1 will zoom in and out natively (no bands workaround) when inside the cockpit - but not for external views. Whereas keypad * and / will zoom in & out for both cockpit and external views. Is zoom not really fixed? Have I missed something in the patch notes? cheers all again Mandella |

quote: Yes the zoom is fixed but as you say natively you can't use it to zoom externally. Im not sure why the devs intended it to be this way The Meatrix - Red or Blue? |

|
quote: oh well I've decided just to use a workaround. On hat1 (shifted) I have programmed UP as NumPad * and DOWN as NumPad /. So that gives me zoom in/out on external views. For the snapview/hat problem, on hat1 (shifted) I have simply programmed LEFT as NumPad 1 (down and left) and RIGHT as NumPad 3 (down and right). So now when I toggle snapviews on I can view the SU-25 instrument clusters as follows: Hat1 (unshifted) UP - Aiming DOWN - Navigation (HSI) LEFT - Airspeed / altimeter RIGHT - RHAW panel Hat1 (shifted) LEFT - Weapons selection panel RIGHT - Warning panel / engines ...and we'll see how that goes. Thanks as ever for your help Precog cheers Mandella |

Hi fellas,
I have a problem with the trim up. I get a chat window thingie "to all" and i get full trim up. Pushing crtl-T to center the trim works but i get full trim up a split-second after. It seems its on Russian planes only, don't think i have it on F15 or A10. PS, in the input options i don't have any keys assigned to any multiplayer chat thingz. Any help will be greatly appreciated |

... one question regarding the trackir profile. first of all i assume you keep the trackir software running in the backgroud. so here's the thing - i assume you have to remap the trackir default hotkeys F8/F12 (?) to any other keys that are not used in the x-45 profile, right?
cheers m.bryo |
