Generally this is caused by a few things. DX being installed over video drivers or chipset drivers. This can usually be fixed by uninstalling your current video drivers. Reboot. Install latest chipset drivers for motherboard reboot and then installing video drivers again. In the boards I mod doing tech support generally 50% or greater are caused by this issue alone!

Weird yes....true yes.... If this does not fix your issue please post your COMPLETE DX diagnosis file in this thread so I can follow up on it.

Insturctions for posting DX diag here

Use the above link for posting DX diag instructions. Let's see if this is a system related issue. If not then it may be game related.

Part of the problem with new games is they tax the system more than previous games. This tends to reveal a system issue very quickly but users 'see' this as a game issue.

I'm not saying yours is not a Lock On issue but alot of other users it has been a system issue.

Thank you for this advice. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my Radeon 9000 64MB graphics card and though it is only AGPX4 and I should really upgrade(!), I find it is adequate to run the game in my present set up (Athlon 2000, 512MB RAM with Windows XP), even with medium graphics settings. The problems I experienced have been resoloved! It is just a pity there is inadequate troubleshooting advice in the game's manual!
Once again many thanks.
Kind regards,
Mark Riley

The pro savage S3 is onboard correct? I don't belive it supports DX 8.1 fully also. I'll check later today but I believe that is your problem.

Hello all, for the computer whizes like me out there (NOT), 3 years ago I could barely turn one of these things on.
Being retired I have nothing to do but sit here at home and tinker with my PC.
You have got to learn basic computer skills if you are going to online game.
This is not unusual to have conflicts with drivers and such, once you learn how it is akin to having time spent during a bowel movement Smile
Thats all it takes just 5 minutes or less depending on the speed of your computer.
PC technology is changing almost everyday and making huge jumps in tecnilogical advances.
So you need to learn how to uninstall and reinstall drivers, and how to correctly scan disk and defrag your PC , because if you do not do any computer maintanance what soever then you will have problems installing and playing your favorite PC games.
I love plug and play to I think its the greatest thing since women, but still every so often I have to force the drivers to reload or install.
Just keep tinkering and you will get it.
If you mess up, your PC will tell you that your messing up.
If you have a major problem post your question and someone in the community will make it back to you with usually a really good answer or several answers which is great because there is more than one way to skin a cat Smile

Hi,
I have read all about updating drivers and i have the latest drivers and DirectX and my Lock On is still crash with a nice light blue screen ...not the blue screen from windows. I tryed in win98 and in XP too.
I have a P4 1,6 512 Mb DDRAM and (i guess this is the problem) a GeForce 4 MX 4400 with 64 MB DDRAM
I hope sometimes i will play this game more than 5 minutes. Smile

Quick question for you Hunter?
I am running XP pro, when I unistall my Radeon drivers, XP immedietly re-installs them right after I reboot. How can I stop that?
Also, I had at one time, a little application that would completely remove ATI registry entries after a unistall. I can't remember where the heck I got it! Surprised

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I will include my Dxdiag just for giggles.
I am not really having any problems except for the annoying chop chop when I fire the A10 guns.

Hey Prop.

I disable my NIC under hardware manager in XP so it does not connect to the net. I also send the main ATI folder to my recycle bin (I don't delete so I can save alternate drivers for later) and restore folder after install. That should stop the problem of it installing older versions. Works for any video card company.

The ATI uninstaller works best IMO. Goto add/remove programs and select the ATI software uninstall utility. It will remove the files. Alot of people think other programs do a better job at removing the old files but I find more reminants using thoughs than the ATI supplied one. The main difference is the ATI does not remove the folder from C: and most others do.

You can use driver cleaner or nasty file remover as 3rd parties if you like.

I have a problem with ATi 9600pro but dont know how to tell. in some aircrafts like f-15 and sea textures , black and white dots appear but not due to overclock. These dots(lines) appear in joints in wings an some other places

ý put some pictures from flanker 2.5 and farcry .Problem is not so bad like in flanker but gives you a idea.I formatted my hdd and installed all from zero with new drivers as you sad.
