i un-installed both flaming cliffs and the original lock-on, i reinstalled them in right order, then i downloaded the 1.12 patch for vista compatibility, now its asking me for some BS activation code that i dont have, i ordered both games by Amazon.com can someone tell me wtf is up? its pi$$ing me off

Sounds like either
(a) you have a GOLD pack that has a borked 2nd CD (the Flaming Cliffs CD) or
(b) you have the wrong version or wrong edition of the 1.12 patch.

1) have you EVER had flaming cliffs working ok?

If you have, then it is definitely not a borked 2nd CD problem.

2) are you sure you have downloaded the correct edition and version of patch 1.12?

For Vista compatability you need the "b" edition of 1.12, ie 1.12b although note that when installed, both "a" and "b" call themselves "a" which doesn't help .
You also need to ensure you have the correct version - there are three! They vary depending on how you obtained your particular Flaming Cliffs (payware download from the Web, single CD, Lockon GOLD pack).
First version is for the Web downloaded Flaming Cliffs.
Second version is for the single CD (and also the Flaming Cliffs CD in the GOLD pack released in the USA).
Third version is for the Flaming Cliffs CD in the GOLD pack released in Europe.

JaBoG32 site seems to have pretty much all the versions/editions.....

Did they come as a set, or did you find them separately?

Start again clean. Uninstall in control manager & then manually delete the leftover file in windows explorer.


Install both the CD's and see if you can get up to version 1.1 "fc" installed & running.

Bottom line is- if the 'FC" cd will install- then the cd's are fine.

The jabog link that BRD provided you with has the individual descriptions in it too. YOu have FC via a CD. If you have English version- get the first patch in the list.
