Hi all,
I was thinking of some ideas to help improve the game a bit. Here are my ideas:

1) Improve the usefulness of sound in the game. The music is nice, but I want to hear footsteps. If someone is running in boots on a wooden sidewalk I should be able to hear that. I'm always hauling *** through these wooden buildings at top speed and I can suprise alot of people simply because they cannot hear me coming. If I'm sneaking up the stairs, I should have to move at normal speed or make enough sound to alert everyone nearby.

2) I want a more interactive environment. More doors to open and close. And to go with the sound issue in #1 above, how about doors that creak when you open/close them? The same goes for windows. Up in the cantina I might like to open a window for sniping. My enemies should be abl to see the window/shutters open of course, but it would also be nice to hear it in the building so that I might be alerted to a nearby enemy.

3) This is really an extension of 2, but I want to be able to pick up a chair and hit someone over the head with it, pistol whip someone when I'm out of ammo, or just punch them in the face. Maybe throw a mug. This would allow for a barroom brawl type of level also.

Anyway, those are some of my ideas. Not sure how commercially viable it is for the game at this point in time, but I hope it can be worked out.

I agree with point 3. This game needs a melee attack

Yes, we need melee.

It's not lag, it's reaction time!

May I say at the outset that the game is probably one of the best I have played on line, and in quality, you have to look around pretty hard to improve it, hence perhaps the reason for not that many contributions so far in this thread. No other online game has previously gripped me like this one has.
There are a couple of things that have buzzed around in my head whilst playing the game that I would like to share and have some opinions back on.
First I would like the idea of a sniper being able to lie down to shoot to be considered. In most eras, the sniper would lie down or rest his rifle onto something solid like a windowsill or rock to steady the weapon more than his hand/arm can, thus making his shot more deadly and accurate. Often being able to crawl to a rim of a hill, shoot and slide back would match the traits of most snipers be they a cowboy/indian or a modern day soldier.
Another idea I had was utilizing the duel that is played in the single player game. I imagine that there are some of the top scorers in the table have achieved this score with some level of backshooting or dynamiting, in other words rising up the table without demonstrating any particular skill other than in melee attack like myself (I have a long way to go to match the leaders Winky) or from playiing that many more games than most having the time available.
Would it be possible to introduce into the online game the old "high noon" scenario where a player can "call out" someone who is higher in the ratings than himself. In real terms one cowboy (usually) lived and one died. In the online game, if the player that was lower in the table were to win then he would inherit the score of the higher player he had gunned down and the higher player inherit his score (basically swap positions and more rapidly become more notorious). If not, then he would pass his score to the higher player, allowing the winner to rise up the ranking still further and more rapidly than in the usual game, the loser being dead starting from scratch. Only the lower player in the table could call out the higher listed player in a challenge, not the other way round but stood the risk of losing all of his points if killed (which might discourage many from misusing the facility, prevented from making a fresh challenge until they had regained an agreed number of points. Both players stand to win a lot, and both similarly stand to loose a lot (in other words the situation is balanced).
Losing the points could mean losing some of the weapons, thus flattening the field a bit for the newcomers against the expert players with the choice of any weapon. THe experts would saoon rise up the rankings and regain their old wepons again if they were any good!.
A maximum points differential could be placed to challenge to prevent the greenback coming in and shooting the top-gun and replacing him at the top of the table.
If the higher player does not appear in the duel, then they swap points and positions in the table.
Reasonable time to meet at sensible times would have to be agreed (all in fun!!!) perhaps through this website.
I believe this might add an extra realistic dimension to the game, particularly if spectators could watch, but not join in (We could even run a bet on the winner usiing in game money to gamble with).
I am not a game programmer and I dont know how hard this would be to incorporate but I think it would enhance the "all round" skills of the players at the top in setting up a new form of challenge (or alternately set up a fresh separate league). Nor am I an expert dualist (far from it) but there are some playing the game that might be and might appreciate this sort of challenge. I do have some other ideas as well but these two will do for the time being. What do you think folks?
