Am I the only one being pounded in the *** over and over by these gun slinger duels? I like the game overall but this is just plain frustrating. I feel like throwing my controller constantly during these parts.

Tips for winning.

'Use the Force, Luke'

'Left a circle, right a circle. Breath in through noise out through mouth'

'There can be only One!'

'Feed him to the pigs, Erol'

I'm assuming you are using a console, so I can't answer that one. If you're using a mouse however, just up the sensitivity, worked for me.

And yes, I found it hard, practise and you'll get there.

Make sure you stay in focus and time it. I don't think any duel lasts more then 15 seconds. Infact, i thought they were all pretty much the same in duration.

Have fun, it's just a game Wink2

I really enjoy the duels. You really have to concentrate and do several things correctly at once for it to come together. But they should of set up a practice arena or somewhere where you could just practice your draws and shooting and have some fun with it. As it is, people just get tired of dying all the time and don't understand what they're doing wrong.

The duels are S**T I have been playing games on xbox360 now for 3 years and this has to be the worst combination for a move "EVER" !

The game is ok but this is the bottom of the pile for ubisoft.

Gun slingin' sucks flat out. No graded learning, instead each one seems just pot luck. They are a real let down as the rest of the story is great.

I'd say its a whole lot easier in the first few stages after you have bought better guns it seems to get harder. IMHO! To start I used to get the bad guy within 2-3 tries, they dont call me Clint The Squint for nothing (only joking, I'll proberly get my *** kicked online, If I ever get online Frown(.....) The Peacemakers I bought for Ray seem to give me probs, where the Colt 45 I got for Thomas seems better, then it could just be me. The trick is to get the hand close all the time but not close enough to the point where he wags his finger, the game pulls the hand away just when you dont need it to.

I find those Peacemakers great in the game outside of duals, use em both together ie both mouse buttons and its a kill every time first shot with Ray

The problem is every time you move to keep the bad guy in focus your hand moves away from the gun. I play on a PC so you have to keep stroking your mouse to the left to keep your hand close to the gun. It all happens so quick when the bell tolls, but it seems like a combination of left+right and finally fire left buttom when the red target is were you want it. As soon as you have target lock on the bad guy is dead.

The key to winning duels in having the bad guy in the middle part of the free area on the screen.

The music will stop, and you know that the bell is imminent.

Get your hand close... when it rings reach for your gun and the target will head up the middle of the screen.

If the bad guy is not in the right place, you will lose - he will shoot you faster than it takes to get the target on him.

You should shoot as soon as the target reaches his balls... that's the moment to get him. Wait longer, and he'll shoot you first.

I found that at first I was moving the mouse too fast. The other thing I found was that moving the mouse in an arc up to the gun really made a difference. I now how crazy this part of the game can get you...after 12 attempts the one time I was ready to chuck it. Keep at it...its worth the effort. Also, I find no difference in any of the revolvers as to the shootout.

what really foils this game On a PC is the quick draw shootout fights. Maybe this works for a console with thumb sticks.

But having to continue to move the mouse on the mouse mat to keep your hand near your gun is a pain.

Also Having to move the mouse down/left then up to grab the
moving cross hairs to gun down your target.

On top of which the Mouse controlls are sluggish an clumsy, with no way to tweak or correctly adjust the mouse in the game.
The only mouse related adjustment is the sensitivity slider which, as far as i can tell is absolutely worthless, as i can see no improvement at all.

It is True that i accept the normal Button pounding punishment
I give both my keyboard an mouse when playing a game, as long as
i feel the results are somewhat due to my skill or lack thereof in a fair manner. To now add having to throw my mouse around the pad and still lagg behind due to the unresponsive controlls, is a bit
too much. After all this is a PC not a console!!!!!

Having to reload the same shootout numerous times, because of this, breaks the feel of the story, and adds much frustration.
By the time you master this control system (if possible),
Not only will the pleasure of the game be at an end,
but the mouse dead as well.

Please write a patch or FIX for PC gamers to fix this and add
options for the other mentioned problems carried over from the console version.

You dont have to move down and left and up at all.....

I just keep my hand right next to the gun so my thumb is touching is. In real life if you were stepping back and forth like that you would also have to think about keeping your hand next to the gun.

There is no reason at all why you would have to move down then left then up.

You just keep it right next to the gun then when the bell rings move left as fast as possilbe, Ray or Thomas automatically draw the gun and then you shoot a second later when the retical appears.

Its really not that hard once you get the hang of it, which takes about 5 minutes.
After playing through the game on medium i can beat Barnsby on very hard mode in 1-2 trys.

Really the only thing you have to master is reflexes, as in the time it takes for you to hear the bell and then make your mouse move.

Also as far as i can tell turning up mouse sensitivity helps every time, before each duel i turn it up to full then after the duel i turn it back down to half.

I dont know how it breaks the feel of the story eather, it really "puts you into" a old spagetti western and i cant think of any possible way to make the drawing system more effective.

nothing to it.

no offence ment Chuckmo, just stating my honest disagrement with your opinion.

No offence taken, I too just making my opinion.
Maybe they should give players some kind of choice thru a menu option, like use mouse buttons or mouse mat. Honestly i see no increase of speed by using the slider.
And as i try to keep the hand next to the gun, it auto-magically rises away from it. Any way to turn that off? Also to be Honest, Im a 64 year old KID, maybe i just need them to give me a optional handicap......What you think?

I'm such a mong!
Of course it should. I just bought this new laser mouse with customizable DPI and I never really used it in the duels - would have certainly helped! hahaha oops
