Just recently purchased Endwar and started playing it, begining with Prelude to war. Is this some type of tutorial, teaching you how to use your units and then eventually you start WWIII? Thanks for any info.

Yes, finish it and you will have access to the single player campaign.

Yes, and it also starts out Endwar's rediculous storyline as well

...The prelude to war IS the ridiculous story line...Beginning to End.... http://www.hasthelargehadronco...oyedtheworldyet.com/
"it had run its course, gone off course, rolled down a cliff, hit a cow, and then exploded." |

Basically, yes. The entire Prelude is an introduction to units, how they operate, and getting used to the commands and mission types. It is annoying at how long it can take at times, but oh well.
I would strongly advise you saving at either Act 7 or Act 8, because apparantly you can't go to WWIII and start a new campaign with a different faction. I'd say experiment with the factions past Act 7, then continue those factions into WWIII. Take your time on battalion selection; I didn't. |

Has anyone else noticed that the Prelude to War explains specificly that Russia chooses to "assist" USA agaisnt Europe but despite this they start fighting eachother from Day 1 for no reason, meaning that the Prelude to war doesn't explain the war between USA and Russia which is kinda retarted.. did US learn the truth how Russia arranged the war? but that woudln't explain how they are then still at war with EU =__=

Its explained if you choose to play as the USA after you played Act 9 where Russia hacks into one of Europes high energy laser satellites to destroy the Freedom 4. General Mitchell says, if you choose to fight the Russians at the fusion reactor near Minsk (Dukovany), he says "We ain't gonna let the Russians set up a new Eastern Bloc, so we are striking now rather than later" meaning that they would rather want to have a war with Russia now rather than later after the war with the European Federation is over.
