Sad to say, i agree with many players. I'm no newbie to RTS games myself, having played the C7C series, CoH, WiC:SA just to name a few, and of course Empire Total war. This game has quite a good concept, and i really like the theatre of war concept. I really had high hopes for this game, after it was compared to another massively successful game, world in conflict. However, when i played this game, I am really disappointed. I have played other games in the Tom Clancy series,( HAWX, Rb6V2, Splinter cell) and they all are very realistic. But in Endwar, its totally blown. I mean, okay, i can put up with energy weapons, but infantry with shields? That's absolutely gay. Plus there are some issues that makes the units walk very slowly, and the timer counting down really slowly. I assure you that its not lag. And though i really appreciate the new cam system, it gets really irritating at times, when you have to move to see another part of the map. Some might say that you gotta appreciate the new method, but i think its a complete failure. Also, I have to agree on the total lack of tactics. If you play CoH, you will need lots of micromanagement, but it is completely absent in this game. What's the best tactic? Horde, or use the scissors-paper-stone method. Sure, some might argue that there's tactics, buts its rudimentary, really basic tactics. With all due respect, I feel that ubisoft has messed this up, especially with the shields thingy, and it feels as though this game is not meant for my age group, but rather that of a 10-12 year old. Heck, there's even more tactics involved in CnC Generals!

Yeah, I definatly agree with Nuker22110.

I just hope that future RTS games copy End War's theatre of war and upgrading ideas.

You thought HAWX was realistic?? Man, try Falcon 4 if you want a realistic fighter sim game. HAWX is extremely arcade. I don't know if it has been changed or not, but when the game came out, you could not fly with assistance off from inside the plane, it forced you into 3rd person view of the plane from the outside. That is NOT how flying a plane works.

If you want an epic RTS that has strategy and tactics, look at Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. I have played most RTS that were released, and I rate that game the best. Amazing graphics, the whole field is a simulator with gravity, no dice roll crap. For example, launch a tactical missile or an artillery rount, and it will hit an interceptor if it just happens to be in it's path. Fun stuff.

Actually, there are a LOT of "I hate EW" threads out there XP

Of course, I agree totally with Nuker. I have played a LOT of strategy games (and not too few FPS and other types) and I feel that EW has a GREAT amount of promise.

For example, I feel that the Theatre of War is the best aspect of the game, and the units/barracks bit has already been copied in other games.

However, I do agree that EW is totally lacking in the area of tactics. Several people on this thread have said that "well, theres the rock-paper-scissors aspect, that's tactics."

Frankly, the R-P-S bit is NOT true tactics, its about as much tactics in EW as there is in, say, pinball or rolling dice.

Again, it is true that there is some unit differences in the game, although these are not realistic.

Another realism problem, as nuker said, is "INFANTRY SHIELDS! WTH?!?!" Look, EW isnt in "A galaxy far, far, away" (I think I got that wrong, dunno) but EW is supposed to be taking place soon. I can stomach maybe deflector shields for tanks and other large vehicles, or maybe for bunkers, but that's pushing it. Infantry squads should be either much larger, or cost only 2 CP and also have no shields.

I agree with RMSe, Supreme Commander, and SupCom: Forged Alliance are much better games if you like large maps and carnage, even with strategy.

Sorry for the long post, I just had too much coffee :P

I think you guys are confusing tactics with strategy. Endwar is not a tactical game it's a strategic one. Ghost Recon & Rainbow 6 are tactical games.

EndWar is a basic RTS.

Other than that, I can't bash the game because it's concepts (while limited) work.

And hell, the factions, setting etc, make it fun.
Learn to appreciate what you have, I think it's a great game and I'm glad they made it.
