I've alway's wondered about a real HOMM MMO, its a risky buisness for companies to take these days..when it mostly comes down to re-inventing the WoW wheel. A HOMM MMO could be completed different from what gamers are used to but also something vastly different that I think is needed. I wonder if what they are doing here is a lack of better term "Cheap study" to see how much interest a HOMM MMO game, though web based would bring. Could they be thinking of taking the next step..but testing the market first?

A HOMM MMO outside of the web browser real time concept, doesn't really make much sense. A M&M MMO would, but then this would have little bearing on something like that.

I'm inclined to believe it is just another web browser game with optional purchases, like other existing broswer based games and nothing more than that.

Perhaps..but I have a hard time trying to figure out the concept they would use...I would assume your character would be a hero...or perhaps your clan lord a hero and you fight as a minion in his army..? That could be interesting. Who knows, I doubt a company could find the financial backing to go out on a limb and create an MMO outside of the "WoW template" safety wheel.

MMO's are not easy to make. There are a lot of factors beyond gameplay that have to be taken into account. The level of social interaction has been the biggest component for success with the recent wave of MMO's. As for the gameplay in MMO's, its still quite stale... I'm still waiting for an MMO that actually focuses on gameplay Big Grin , something that is far from the "Safety Wheel".

Well based on the GDC conference that was held. It was decided that the future of MMO's will be how much player's can change their environment and how they can effect the gameplay..its not what the companies can offer in terms of gameplay to the gamer but what the gamer can do to effect changes to the gameplay. This of course opens a whole new set of problems when giving control to the gamers..because we all know what happens then. But on the flip side an upcomming MMO called exanimus, has come to quite a nifty solution for this. If your curious just google it. To sum it up if your a bad player you won't get your account banned. You are just sent to a very bad place where really bad characters live and your set to survive outside the safety of the community..same thing goes for griefers. I'm really impressed with this solution.

Nothing points that this could be a study for a future MMO... and if it was, I dont expect they getting out of the "safety wheel"... BTW, there's already a MMO ambiented in M&M Universe being developed in China I think....

We can do anything... we only need to propose it!

M&M MMO would be tantalizing....hmm so many ideas running through my head lol. The game is being developed in china..? That's scary as they adopt a very different type of game play that differ's greatly to NA and European play styles in MMO's.

Well considering there has been talk of storylines.. plus this is more or less free. i am gonna guess it's gonna be a lead up to HoMM 6.. play this and you get some nice tidbits to the story in HoMM 6 i imagine, or something like that.

I bookmarked that game when it was announced. Glad to see others are noticing it. Thats one of the few MMO's that actually has potential, even though very little information has been released at the moment. I also get the impression that they are thinking the same thing I do about MMO's and their current approaches and potential. We shall see if it lives up to expectations.
