Can you get to the point where there is no reason to continue play? For example, you have spawned near strong players/alliances, and you cannot level your hero further or build up an army large enough to defeat a neighbour. Or, you have three strong heroes and you cannot level them up further...?

HoMM Kingodms is gonna be just another Travian clone because of the poor combat system.

Accept the fact that from the data released so far (forum q&a, screenshots) combat is simplistic.

What annoys so much is that there are groups of developers out there with far less financial possibilities and yet they can make good things and have great ideas.

/rant off :P

Hi everyone,

Time to answer some of your questions concerning HOMM Kingdoms 

Stay tuned and see you soon!

What happens if you try to take over a town but you already have the max limit of towns?

If a player has reached the limit of towns and still wants to capture enemy towns or create a new town close to the action, he can choose to offer one of his old towns to another player.

Will heroes and armies be visible on the map for everyone to see, or just for the owner? Will we be able to anticipate for someone attacking, or just be prepared for an attack at all times?

All army movements are visible on the map and a small icon is added on your city when it is under attack. If you keep an eye on the strategic map and regularly scout out your closest enemies you should never be surprised.

Are you currently thinking 1 in-game day can be run every real-world day (that being the 10-15 minutes of play time per day that was eluded to in one of the facts).

Yes, in-game days and real days are fully synchronised.

Are you afraid that people will reverse engineer the static combat equations? Since there is no randomness in the equation, someone could run their combat scenarios through the equations before choosing the order of creatures, thus maximizing their ability / limit their loss with no concern of strategy, simply by plugging in of values to the combat equation to figure out the order.

Yes, you could create this kind of tool but using it would be like asking a robot to play the piano – the score would be perfect but there would be no talent in the performance. The same thing applies to our combat system: it implies objective values but also many elements whose importance depends on the player strategy.

For instance: Attacking with an army far superior to the enemy is the best way to limit your losses but, if you do that, the experience you gain from this combat will be decreased...
This is one of the trade-offs your tool cannot answer: do you want to reduce your losses, or do you prefer to gain a lot of experience?

There are a lot of trade-offs like this one and the player is the only one able to make the correct decision. This only concerns battles with NPC's as when you attack other players there will be new elements which will break any equations you make. Overall it's likely that such a tool will be created by some players and it will help them to manage their armies, but there is no way it can give a "perfect" solution.

Cheers,

Yaiden

new answers !
I like this strategic map Smile
Thank you

Are there any technology tree you can invent or specific buildings that can be upgraded, for example better atack/defence for your units, bonuses for fighting specific units for example Devil vs Angel. I understand that Hero will have abilities but this would be global.
Is there any upkeep for an army - or you just produce them and pay once.
Is there any way your ally can help you defend your city?
Is there some kind of logistic where you can not gather more creatures (not in quantity but in some kind of points) in one hero army more than the level of it - it would be great if there was an ability of a hero and a global 'technology' - it would give a limit to army size - depending of your kingdom logistic and a bonus from hero, preventing from very very huge army sizes
I know this kind of mechanics are not in standard HoMM but this is different game and you could implement something new.

Thanks for the big questions and big answers. I was wondering if there will be a ratings system? How can the competition continue to draw us in to the play?

If there is a way to figure the best combat system, perhaps building a different skill tree for your hero can make play unpredictable, or give you a large advantage in strategic combat. Then it sounds like you can level your heroes up faster than other heroes, particularly those who choose the town development trees...

How will a ratings system work? Will one exist?

Do Luck and Morale exist and how is it implement into combat
Is it any kind of randomness in combat - like it was in standard HoMM - for example creatures of one kind could deal 100-200 damage

and isn't it strange that people are no more interested and don't post in this topic? We all waited for answers and I think some people are tired. Last time and earlier there were a lot of posts after You published something new - now it is opposite. I think You should pay attention to this.

exectlly my point... i hear from hommkingdoms last year and was really interessed in it... i was here every day to check for some updates and news... february i bought the complete edition because i could get it for 50€ and i only got the homm 3. befor so it was ok and i got my betakey... but after the last month i´m only 1-2 times a week in here and only reading because alot of questions are answered and i´m only waiting for the beta start...

the only thing that holds me interessted in hommkingdoms is the hope that this game will have a really good quality not as some games like gothic 3, loki, and all another games that had a great potential killed by annoying bugs

so i´m still waiting and hoping

sure i know that hommkingdoms will be a browser game and gothic 3 / loki were pc games with 3d grafik etc...

but the point is not on which plattform the game was released as more than the quality of it...

you can have a great conzept for a game but if you release it with bugs and annoying things the community will break down and no one will play it...

and thats what i mine... blizzard is a good example for great software... it plays well and the communitys for there games are really really big over years... (warcraft, starcarft, wow, diablo, etc.)

Dont listen to the others.
The open beta has already started but you could only apply yesterday and only if you are bald, below 150 cm and you have hairy hobbit feet.

Time for my question(again):

How unique will be the races ?

And a question to the community:

Do i kill this thread every time or is it just simply dead?
