I am trying to figure out how can I put SOAF maps in GR?
I have tried to paste and copy the entire folder-created the mod but would crash and mission pick was rather strange.
I then tried to make a folder using GR Original File and replace some files with SOAF map information but that would not work either... I am wondering what am I doing wrong-I have some ideas but don't know how to go about them... can anyone help?

Just to clear it up-I have two PC's and both have both games on them-just wanted to bring the CQB into GR for home LAN use.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

I have tried the link Digger supplied but all I get is "Page not avialble".............. I guess I was not quick enough.

I have not been able to search through the link yet-I will do so shortly.

I appreciate your help on this. Thank you very much.

By the way, has anyone played the game that way. I understand that "it has already been done" but I wondered if anybody enjoyed it? I mean CQB on GR...

Always here

You have to have SOAF installed on your HDD to use this utility, do you have SOAF?

Yes sir. I have it installed on the hard drive. Now do you mean linking to the site or.... directions on how to do this. Also one more question, should I have the CD in the drive or does it not matter?

1. put the folder "soafmaps" into your SOAF mod directory.

2. Double click "install_2nd_step.bat"! if prompted to overwrite files, do so.

3. Cut and paste the "soafmaps" folder from SOAF/MODS directory to your ghostrecon/mods directory.

4. Activate the mod.

Clear as mud?

Yer I loved it, its the only reason I bought SOAF which I thought was pretty crappy as a game...

One thing thou, you can't use the command map properly when playing the maps, you have to switch players a lot and keep an eye on your AI backup to make sure they are still behind you and haven't got lost...

It is to do with the fact GR works on 2 levels and SOAF has 3... I think, different, bear with it and enjoy!

Clear as mud it is-I understand all but the "install_2nd_step.bat"but I will search for it and see if I can find it. I greatly appreciate your help on the matter.

I do have one question though and it is in the aspect of what I was trying to do earlier-meaning just copying the files over. The question now/statement:

It was the voice, actor, mission and/or command map-that were shutting down the system? Confusing data and configuration did not match or something along those lines?

Did you play it mission or multiplayer? I am assuming that it was mission. The thing that works for me is the fact that I do have two PC's linked together and it so Lan gaming with a friend is always fun...

Inside the soaf_maps folder you unzipped is a the folder soafmaps, note no "_". This is the one paste into your soaf/mods folder.

Inside the soafmaps folder is the "install_2nd_step.bat", just double click it.

Because of the difference in the map levels you can not script missions for any of the SOAFs maps with IGOR, or anything else for that matter. I have tryed to change the insertion point in some of the maps because you get nailed as soon as the firefight starts on a few maps.

What happens when you change the IP is your guys will spawn at different levels of the IP, some just get stuck between levels and are not seen again

So only firefights are available, no missions and yes you can play multi player firefight.

One of the clans ran the mod for quite some time allthough i haven't seen it listed for a while now..

Thank you very much Mr. Digger69. I really appreciate your help. I am transfering the files right now so in a minute we will see if it did not manage to mess it up. No computer skills whatsoever-just point and click---works with FPS.

One again, thank you very much.

I would say it was the command maps that crashed GR, can't say for sure because I don't reallly know but, once again the difference in levels is probably causing the problems...

I have tried again and failed miserably... I am doing something wrong.... I did the simple thing and just "paste/copy" the maps into a new folder... perhaps I should put them right in GR maps folder.... but that could disrupt the original game files I believe.

Another question then: The texture, sound, character and mission scripting from SOAF-I understand those are necessary to actually play the game. Knowing that these are needed for the missions, are some of them needed to actually operate the maps??.. or are the texture, sound files from the original GR sufficient to cover those?

I have opened the Mods I have downloaded and some of them did include texture etc. folders within, I am thinking if that would help out.
