Im just totally confused and i was wondering if anyone knows of a really great one that takes you through the steps of editing a map or something? i want to turn the "ghost town" map of deasert siege into a rainy, foggy look like the "battlefield" map of ghost recon. But i have no idea where to start or how to do it. Any help would be great thanks a ton. If you have any of your own tips or large tutorials, Email them to me at: Piranidon@Hotmail.com

Thanks a ton for any help guys i really appreciate it.

I don't know how much experience you have with Igor, but a great place to start is El Oso's Igor for Dummies.

http://eloso.3dretreat.com/Eloso/Igor/index.htm

There are links to other tutorials at theplatoon.com and ghostrecon.net

I'm sure the guys around here can answer alot of your questions too.

There's also a tutorial on one of the GR discs - I think the Desert Siege one, but I'm not totally sure about that. I didn't know about it, spent ages working Igor out, getting very frustrated with things I was stuck with at times, and then I found out in here that there's a tutorial on the disc that I had all along! I wasn't very pleased - I'd already been modding for about a year by then!

Change the weather conditions of a map (add/remove rain, snow, fog etc) in the "Map Properties" box - select it in the Edit pull-down menu in Igor.

I've never read the El Oso tutorial, but it's probably very good - he's the guy behind the scripting for Frostbite, so he obviously knows a thing or two about it... The tutorial I have is by Wolfsong - that came from theplatoon.com

Any other specific questions you can't sort out yourself, you know where to ask! Good luck, and happy modding...

The best thing is to make your own mod-folder (Ghost Recon\Mods\MY MOD.

All mods have the same folder-structure.

Put the ENV file in the map-folder (of your mod-folder), and the MIS in the mission-folder. Same for other files used in the mission.

Copy (and edit) the modscont.txt in the root of your mod-folder. This will make it available in the mod-selection-screen in GR.

Now you got your own mod.

If you're only creating new missions on existing maps, all you have to do is select "New" from the File menu in Igor. You then get the choice to select a map to base it on (if you want to). Select whichever GR map you want to use, and you'll then get the map, with all necessary zones for MP etc, but with no people or scripting etc. Make the changes you want to make, and then save it in the Mission folder of the relevant mod (eg ...Ghost Recon/Mods/Origmiss/Mission for original GR maps, ...Mods/MP1/Mission for Desert Siege maps etc). If you do this, you don't need to copy the env files etc, and you just have one extra mission file - remember to label it something totally different from the existing missions though, so you don't corrupt the game files or over-write anything important.
