Is there anyway of modding the vehicles in GR?
I cant load or import any of the .vcl files into 3Dsm. Trying to create a mission where the ghosts clear an area and get to a radio point and call in a chopper, which brings in a jeep. Would like to be able to take the Blackhawk chopper and put a jeep underneath it hanging on some chains.This would need to be a helicopter object in its own right. Thought of getting a jeep to fly with the chopper (say 2 meters below it) but can not find a way to script this. So really need to be able to edit the blackhawk chopper in 3dsm or similar program,Can this be done? |

Unfortunately not. You can't open a model from GR in 3dsmax. I think you would have to create the combined model in 3dmax. But I also think, as far as realism goes, you would need a heavy lift chopper like a chinook to carry a jeep.

I don't know all the ins and outs of creating vehicles in 3dsm, but from a scripting point of view, the way I would do it is this:
Create a new helicopter, where the texture shows the jeep being carried below it. Make sure you also have the jeep and helicopter as separate vehicles in their own right (ie, not attached to each other). Then in your scripting, have the chopper fly in and "land" - this would lower the jeep to the ground. Then, hide the combined chopper/jeep, and reveal a helicopter and a jeep that you already placed, but which were previously hidden. You should then get the visual effect you want, and then be able to control the jeep and helicopter separately afterwards. You won't be able to make the jeep "fly" below the chopper as you mentioned above, as ground vehicles can't fly - you can't set an altitude for them on a path. And the chopper would be moving faster than the max speed of the jeep - although you can alter this in Igor. Good luck sorting it out... |
